Just about had it with spam emails I can't keep up with them using outlook xpress itself. Does anyone here use this Mailwasher proggie?

Yes, I tried it for several months. As a result my spam increased by more than 500% to the point I no longer use the email address because of the dozens of spam that arrives in it daily.

It allows you to "bounce" mail, and while the mailings returned may say the box is invalid or non existing, these spammers are way too smart for that.  Any kind of reply back to them indicates it's a valid email and as a result they hammer you with more spam.

I downloaded something called "spam fighter", which I found in a link here.  By blocking addresses that are spam, you are helping out other spam fighter client's as well.

Also, it you inadvertently delete a message you can retrieve it if need be - I've been a bit too trigger happy on occasions.......

I use it as well and love it.. and it's reduced my spam by huge amounts. You do need to constantly update it's "freinds" list, and also make sure you bounce spam whenever possible

Like Gill, I've used Mailwasher for years and wouldn't be without it.  In fact, it's reduced the amount of mail I actually download because it allows me to look at links, like this one, if I trust the source without ever downloading the email.

What they said, meaning it - Mailwasher - is a getter and a keeper!  The amount of spam I get now is SEVERELY reduced compared to before I had it - for several years.

Spammers are indeed smart but Mailwasher helps reduce their effect.

Works well enough that I allow it to remove certain spam from the server without any confirmation from me.

Bouncing spam isn't always a great idea, just see Acadia's reply for confirmation of this. I've used Mailwasher for over 2yrs now & apart from my blacklist deleting itself once somehow & the time I added a friend to the blacklist by mistake I'm very happy with it.

I've used MailWasher for years and just love it. Am able to delete spam from my mail server without ever seeing it. :)

Sometimes more than not...bouncing an email works in reverse. You get more not less.
On my MailWasher, I just "blacklist" the spam and that's helped reduce them.

I do the same.  I don't bounce because, as stated earlier, that gives a ping as a valid email.  I simply blacklist them and they're automatically deleted for me.  When the spammer doesn't get a response you eventually get removed.

Also, I have really good spam filters on all of my email accounts, from my ISP and from my mail server on my websites.

As I have a couple of domains under my belt I think mail washer is great - it's great for catching all the crap that goes through to my catch all accounts - the things like aaaaazzzz111@ ..........

Plus you can set it up to catch all the different spellings of V1@gra or C1al1s
