Great lighthouse Nongo - at least you were able to get a bit closer than I could - I did get a few zoom shots but like a fool, I had no tripod and up there it was really windy and bitterly cold so my hands were shaking (so were my arms, legs, and whole body come to think of it!!)
Thanks for joining in. xx

What an amazing sky (yes, I see the lighthouse, but that sky......)
Great shot Rich - I thought you might have had a lighthouse or two in you portfolio considering you like beaches and all!! xx

No, seriously, this is fantastic Kort and should be (if not already) in your gallery! xx

Oops, sorry - yes it is but looking at the date, I'd have had to search through several pages to find it (never thought of using the search option before!!!) So you really are a fan of lighthouses then. Some great shots you have of them in your gallery - love the spiral staircase ones, from both ends. xx

very nice shot there kort - shame about the camera flare (although i suspect it might have been inevitable considering the lighting) but very cool perspective.
Chrissy - surprisingly there arent any lighthouses i know of around st andrews, otherwise i would probably have taken a shot of it - the shot above was taken in croatia... well technically from the sea, but who is counting? :)

Here's one from my gallery from a few years ago. Shot with a ultracheap digital compact
It's a lighthouse in Westkapelle, the Netherlands.
And here's one from Cuba

@ Fred255 - I've never seen a lighthouse physically in the water (virtually) like this before, cool shot!
@3DGuy - Again, a lighthouse so close to the shoreline, that's unusual - but great!! And I love the sunset scene from Cuba - lovely colours and reflections, great shot!
Keep them coming - I'm getting a thing for lighthouses now LOL!! xx

How is that unusual? Where do you expect lighthouses to be, 10 miles inland? All lighthouses I've seen are all close to shore. That's the whole idea right

No....LOL!! I mean they're normally up higher or set back on a cliff - at least the ones I've seen, as in my photo. I've never seen one on the beach itself. xx

Ah well. This is the Netherlands... famous for it's lack of cliffs The largest features around the coast are the dunes. In my first picture it's high-tide btw. With low-tide there's around 75m (225ft) of beach ;) Also, it's not very obvious from the picture, but the base of the lighthouse is actually quite a few meters above sealevel :P

Ah yes, The Netherlands - I've driven through there on many occassions when I used to live in Germany and would travel back here to UK via ferry - very beautiful countryside and yes, very flat so I don't suppose you would have many cliffs LOL!!
Sorry, I should've picked up on that from the photo. Ah well, we live and learn...... xx

That's nothing this picture was taken last year in July. In the winter I have seen pictures of this lighthouse almost under the sea!
