Here is a Freebie, 2d/3d textures in Genetica Viewer v2.5 by Spiral Graphics Inc.
Genetica Viewer. http://www.spiralgraphics.biz/viewer/index.htm
Extra Free Libraries of Textures. http://www.spiralgraphics.biz/packs/index.htm
They have a Standard and Pro version for lots of extra cash. Here is some of the info from the site.
Genetica 2.5 is an innovative node-based seamless texture editor for professional 3D artists. With effect maps, more than 500 finished texture presets of all types, automatic seamlessness, and unprecedented flexibility, Genetica will help you revolutionize your textures. http://www.spiralgraphics.biz/gen2tour/index.htm
The Viewer is basic but the Pro version is pretty serious stuff and so is the price.

Some very useful stuff there, thanx!
The single user price isn't too bad for the pro version, works out about £200 with the current exchange rates!
Injustice will be avenged.

What is interesting about this basic Editor, the Viewer will allow you to render separately the texture maps along with the final texture. These could be very useful by themselves for other projects.
I like this editor better than some of the others I have, will have to save a bit though.

A better one, for a little less money is the German Product called Texture Maker. This is the one used by many/most professionals. This will also let you render the texture maps independently, and position lighting on them if you wish. its Seamless Editor works very well, and it is capable of very good bump effects. Its color adjustment tools also are first class. You can download a trial version of this one, I believe.
I experimented with Genetica, and some others, but am glad I settled on Texture Maker. Service has been great as well.

It is a good product, I have an older version of Texture Maker, but when I migrated to Vista x64 it kept crashing. Never got it stable, so, I looked for something else and found Genetica, which was compatible.

Hmmm, looks like my URL link went astray. Try this one instead, and start by looking at the Tour page. Works with Win 64 bit OS now, but I don't have Vista, so I can't speak for that OS>.
