It's a bit older than that. It's from before the www was invented :D And it's an original.

I would say a cassette deck?

newleaf posted Thu, 03 May 2007 at 1:05 PM

The starter on a old record deck?

3DGuy posted Thu, 03 May 2007 at 1:56 PM

I think the actual name isn't going to pop up and I'll give it to Kort since he was closest with his first guess. I really wanted to hear 'walkman'.

Ah, a vintage walkman...the thing that started the truly portable music craze (I don't count boom boxes). Hang on to that thing, it is an antique (can you believe it?).

Okay, may as well use this same thread. Here is something that is normally found at an office, or at a school. This one is from my office.

It's still in full working order. It's just laying in a drawer here.

I think I know what it is, but I'll let it slide because I had a hard enough time coming up with this challenge

Sheesh people, it shouldn't be such a chore to do this, lol. Anyway, Geert saved you. I guess I made it too easy.

I'm not all that positive on the inspiration part, but here's another WoE for you... Maybe you recognize the central part, but I need the name of the whole thing (I don't even know the name in English, so I can learn something, LOL)... (Edit: when I look at the posted message... jeez, this is easy..!)

No, but my wife air drys most of our clothes to save electricty, and we have an oversized refridgerator magnet that looks like one so I see that coil all the time. :) Here is another. The thing in front of the paper with type on it.

i really have no idea except that the ball bit is probably part of a fixing system - ie you can push the ball in and it fits into a hole in something which fits over whatever this is...

maybe... ;)
