I'm sure this topic has been beaten over multiple times but I would just like to point out that I am seriously irritated over the typical 'Oh she's very beautiful' comments thrown on images (especially considering there may be more than one figure.... Hello? What about my fantastic morph on the other guy? Um, five hours to render... Come on, give me some freakin' credit!)
I mean, its not like I don't put any information in the 'Notes' area... I'm sure plenty know that I put more than enough info there to let you give a significant and meaningful comment based on my intense effort on creating some wonderful artwork for everyone to enjoy.
Anywho, thats what I have to say about that LOL!

How about Copy & Paste threads? :)
Just playing. I couldn't agree more. It'd be great if we could black list certain people from posting comments on our images. It wouldn't be long before they got the message...so to speak.
If we can hit that bullseye, the rest of the dominos will fall like a house of cards...checkmate!

What IS with the copy & paste function anyway here?? If I try to do that I have to do it all with keyboard shortcuts and no mouse or I get a message.....
**Your browser sectury settings don't permit the editor to automatically execute copying operation. Please use the keyboard for that (Ctrl+C).
** Well I use Firefox 2.0 and I've looked for the setting to make it work and can't find it. I don't have this issue on any other site or forum that uses text entry forum or boxes.
So what's up with that??

With so many threads recently complaining about the style of commenting, I'm almost afraid to post comments anymore!
I almost always try to make a unique and qualitative comment on a picture, but sometimes I just don't have time. Still, when I see something I like I do want to leave a bit of encouragement.
I will admit that I did once try to do a bunch of copy and paste commenting. I had so many artists in my favorites and I had the ebots sending me fistfuls of notices. A week had gone by and I had not had a chance to get to Renderosity to look around.
So, anyway, I decided to make a notepad list with four comments that I figured might cover any occasion.
Can you guess what happened?
Well after submitting two or three poor artists to my drive-by commenting, I foudn myself faced with a pic that needed so much more then I could have predicted. I ended up writing something specific. Then, I landed on another pic where I felt I should expand upon my copy/paste comment. This suddenly became the norm. I spent four or five hours trying to get caught up on my ebots and then went cruising the gallery, because it just seemed like a great day for Rendo-art.
Yeah, so I tried the copy/paste thing once and couldn't really go through with it.
I have since disabled my ebots and just drop by my faved artists when I get the chance.
On the subject of recieving. Well, I do like it much more when someone says something specific about what i've posted. Oh, and I have had a few head-scratcher comments that can only be explained by drive-by commenting! I've never really cared too much, though. Maybe I'm just another attention whore. lol

Just would like to point out that:
What I'm trying to say is simple: When someone says, "She is very beautiful" I'm not offended. Its when I have more than one figure in an image or there are several notes talking about other parts of the image that "She is very beautiful" just doesn't work. Even if you speak a different language, you should know the difference between 'she' and 'they'

Perhaps the following would be a useful addition to spare you becoming "seriously irritated" in the future : IMPORTANT NOTICE :Just don't forget to read my notes on images to understand what exactly you are supposed to comment on. And pay attention to your usage of pronouns! Anasta, stating that the point you are trying to make is "simple" implies you labour under the impression that I am stupid and missed it. I didn't miss it at all -imo no. 2 referred particularly to your complaint about people not leaving comments up to your expectations . You now follow it up with something even better : "Even if you speak a different language, you should know the difference between 'she' and 'they'" SHOULD ????? Nope, nothing arrogant in that statement at all. So in other words all you are say'in now is.....that any and all members (from quite a variety of countries) of this (USA based) site should have complete command of both reading and writing english ??? 0.0 Give me strength Perhaps on a slow day I'll start my own thread about the amazing intolerance frequently exhibited in this forum towards many things including but not exclusive to the quality & spelling of comments, quality or perceived lack of quality in artistic endeavours etc.etc.etc Oh dear, here I go being intolerant of someone who, imo, is making pretty intolerant statements... So having said what I felt needed sayin' in rebuttal to what Anasta felt like simply just sayin' I'll go and follow my own advice of "Live and let live" now ; ) Kitty pics anyone ? ^..^

Anasta's point is simple, and you do seem to have missed it, although perhaps not because you are stupid. When you see the same comment word for word in 20 different gallery pics in a row, it's not a question of spelling, grammar, or language comprehension.

Maybe the person does, but was absent minded when writing a comment.
It's not that easy coming up with something different and meaningful to say every time.
For some people, it's difficult to do that even some of the times.
Also, some people's appreciation can fall short of the value of the piece, while they are still being as appreciative as they possibly can.
Like me appreciating Van Gogs, I love it, but I could never appreciate it properly, neither can most public at large with no significant art training.

I'm not asking for meaningful, I understand that its just a generic comment to get people to view their gallery. Its just that with that comment, its like they didn't even look at the image. Even absentminded people would delete the 'she' part.

Conniekat8 posted Fri, 18 May 2007 at 3:33 PM
Well, in trying to understand what you are getting at better, I looked at your gallery, and I'm making a guess that you may be talking about a comment to your image titled 'Anticipation'. In that image, even though there is more then one character, the girl in the character ddoes give a feeling of her being the main character.
Looking at it from that perspective, I could easily see how someone, instead of saying, wow, the girl in the image is really beautifully done and stands out from the rest (focusing on that part of the image), they blurted out "She is very beautiful", thinking it was self evident that she was thinking about the girl in the image.
It doesn't strike me as a language issue, but more of the issue that the poerson commenting assumed that they expressed what they were getting at clearly enough, but in reality perhaps not.
Happens all the time... LOL, my honey is really bad at it, and tends to substitute one word, like "Store" for meaning to say, we need to go to the store this coming weekend, and gets all defensive when I tell him I don't have time before the weekend starts, and tells me, that's what I asked you, store? I understand what you're saying and completely agree, if that were the case. Look at it this way, go through the 'What's New' Gallery and look at the, oh say, 20 or so images uploaded around the same time as mine. This particular individual would have pages and pages of the same comment next to a wide variety of images. I realized that english was not their first language, but after a while I decided that perhaps this was a child... (Just seeking that positive spin...)
