i'd like to suggest a change in the rating system to eliminate the stars and a recommend check mark.  my reasoning is that it seems like most who give a rating give a 5 (though you would know that better than i).   i think it's too difficult to compare works not only based on one's internal scale, but with an understanding and awareness of the site's scale (what has tons of 5s).  a simple one star system that you give or don't would make it easier. 

also, i think it would be good to be able to give ratings without commenting.  sometimes i want to just give a "good job!" mark, and not make a comment.

sounds good to me. as the current rating system is useless in determining whether the image in question is any good, why not change it to either 1 star (rated) or no star (unrated)?
