Poser 7 won't run - gets to the face screen and freezes, very hard to get to terminate, was working perfectly yesterday, but today after the new MS upgrade/patch, won't - anyone else having this problem?

that the security update to the MSI install system issued last night?
running fine here and not sure how that would affect Poser since it's mainly changes for installing software...

didn't seem to make any sense to me, but that was the only thing that really changed - just curious if anyone else, otherwise suppose will have to uninstall/reinstall & see if that works - frozen at the face screen, doesn't go any further, so something slipped.

Hmmmmm, Looks like the update is only suppose to replace the "msi.dll" to fix issues with the MS auto-updater. A bit of a "head-scratcher". If jehllm's suggestion of uninstall/re-install still does work, maybe try a system restore. good luck. jdc

Hmm. Thanks for the heads-up. As it happens, Windows is downloading
that update at this very moment .... think I'll set a Restore point before
letting it install the update!

Yep i dont use microsoft auto updater is causes to many head aches, as i prefer to download from microsoft or an external site.
I dont have probs with microsoft updates on comp used for rendering as it will never be hooked up to internet, the only window's fixe's i install on it are to windows meadia player, and direct X.
And will be instaling XP 64 seperate partition and will activate over phone as my new computer, is internet free zone.

Hi - I reinstalled and it seems to limp along, but closes VERY slowly - the upgrade shouldn't have changed anything, but who knows, but at least it is working agin (for the moment)

I guess I dodged a bullet, I haven't had any of these problems at all. Performance is fine, stability is fine.

Poser7 is working on mine. I hope it straightens out for you.

After placing a Restore point, I went ahead and installed the update...
P7 still works fine.

I am embarrassed to say it, but I now don't think it was the upgrade. I purchased DAZ MadLab 4, and after installation moved the folders into a central folder because the installer put the characters in a lot of folders - never had a problem with that before. I moved the folders back where the installer put them, and now things work right again - so I uninstalled the MadLab (the props couldn't find their textures anyhow) and am going to complain to DAZ. In 7 years, I've never seen that reaction to moving folders, but probably something tied to the installer. Oh well, live and learn.

Last time Microsoft did that they broke my auto update. I refused to reinstall the stupid OS just to fix it as they suggested at that time. So as far as auto update goes...FORGET IT. Microsoft is not my friend.

I noticed that Poser 7 has all kinds of problems if I have IE 7 open at the same time.
For example I can't seem to delete things or it will take over 20 minutes to do it, it will also not finish rendering and hangs. All the problems go away when I close IE 7.
