I mentioned this in passing in someone else's thread a couple of weeks ago, but nothing was made of it - just wanted to make it its own subject so I'm not hijacking anyone else's.Does anyone else have problems with accessing xurge's site? I'm using IE7, from the UK, with Tiscali as my ISP. Whenever I try to get in, it takes an age to look for the site and respond, and then completes with a simple plain white page, no links, no nothing.
Can anyone verify this for me, or suggest any way I might get round it?
Many thanks,
JonTheCelt

I tried it and couldn't get to it. I added the URL to my safe URL list in my firewall and now I can access the site.

Well, I've tried both IE and Firefox, to no avail... allowed the site on my internet settings in IE, no joy... couldn't see how to do the same in Firefox... but the fact that neither can open it suggests it's a problem with a connection, rather than the software...
So, still stumped - apart from to know that it's definitely a problem I'm having, rather than a site absence...

Check that thread. I had problems getting to Bravenet and it turns out the problem was my HOSTS file.
Also, have you tried to do a traceroute?

Ran a tracert, and seemed to get through ok... at least, the ip address I got to at the end of the trace was the same as the address given me when I used nslookup, to confirm it.
The only hosts files I have on my computer are all in the /windows/system32/drivers/etc folder, as yours were - hosts, hosts.msn, and another sample file. The only ip address named in the hosts file is my localhost ip - there's nothing else. So it does'nt look like it's that, either.
Thanks for your help, by the way, guys - it's not really that major, but it's just a minor pain, since I know xurge does some great stuff, and I'd love to be able to at least view it, if not buy some of it.

Did you try dumping your web cache? Sometimes it helps to get rid of the cookies for that site. If you've already tried that and said so and I missed it please send coffee!

Thanks for the suggestion, marque... but I don't have any cookies for that site, since I simply haven't ever been able to get there. :)
JonTheCelt
EDIT Interesting - I did have a cookie for xurge in there, dating back to march this year - even though, if memory serves, I didn't get in that time, either. Still, I've deleted it now, so I'll give it another go... Here's hoping!
EDIT 2 Nope, no joy... still comes to a blank. Not even a 'can't access' warning, or anything... most odd.

Working in Canada. Adn I'm using IE7.
Weird problem you have their. I would have suggested the dumping of the cache and all offline content. Make sure the site is allowed. But I think this has all been covered and done.
Damn, this is a mind stumper. Where are the IT guys (and gals) in this forum?
I'll let you know if I come up with soemthing else.
