Subject: layer mask

Hi Guys.
I've clean up my computer and later reinstall photoshop cs2,but after i was ready i wanted to work on an image an using an layer mask but it wont work any more,i've tried many times to uninstall en reinstall it but without any luck,can anybody help for a solution?

I don't think so, but could you possibly try to add a layer mask to a layer called 'Background'? It is not a seperate plugin or something, it is an essential part of how Photoshop works. Making a mask is actually adding an extra channel to your r, g and b. Does that work, in the channel tab? In that case I can thing about a workaround, but firstly the double clicking on the layer (to create 'Layer 0') would have to be ruled out. Let me know! Hoof

is the "quick mask" icon greyed out??

hoof's right, masks are part of the editable layer functionality but they don't work for background layers. that layer is locked, unless double-click to make it a "normal" layer...
