what is this...."vue" you speak of? are there other programs out there? bryster tells us to keep indoors, under the couch and out of the light.

 Until recently, vue's renders all looked very "flat", now there is dimension to them.  Eon, even sent me vue for free a while back (4 or 5..I never really paid much attention to the version) 

....I never installed it...cause I didnt like the renders...and now the cd is in the pile of "old cd's" that are just there for "in case"

for years I have said that I do not like vue images...again, "until recently".

or maybe..just maybe it takes a brycer to make a vue image? (lol)

so, is now the time for me to actually install vue?

If its Vue 4 you've got, BT, I probably wouldn't bother - I think B5.1 was better and much more stable. If its Vue5, I'd give it a whirl. Vue made some pretty big strides on version 5 and some bigger ones on version 6. I found Vue5i pretty unstable, but Vue6i seems a lot better, though its stability really can vary a lot from one PC to another. There's a Vue6i free learning edition out now on the e-on website. I think that'd be worth some time if you want to see where its at.

GaryandCatherine  are another brycer that turned to the dark side a while back, and they do some really nice stuff in Vue (and did some really nice stuff in bryce). For some reason (not sure why) I find that Vue6i "thinks" more like bryce than vue 5 did... could just be that I'm more familiar with it now. Could be that it has a "merge scene" option too ;)

Death - yeah, it feels very weird seeing the word "Vue" under an image after so long (though infrequently) putting bryce under them lol.

It just catches me odd that every time Bryce 6.1 starts it's one of your images on the splash window. Now I'm going to be reminded that Flak did a .. a ... umm.. i can't make myself write the "v" word ;-)

Whats worse is when you're in a brycer filled chatroom (at an old bryce website.. for bryce gallery/tori things) and someone asks what you've been up to and you can either say "nothing", and sound like an evasive delinquent who's withholding self important secrets, or you can admit to the truth and say the "v" word.... now thats awkward lol 

Analog-X - for a tutorial, its actually done in a similar way to a lot of my other bryce images - make the environment, make smaller scene files of localised people groups and localised lighting effects, then merge small scene files with the environment scene file and render inserted small scene file by inserted small scene file. Vue couldn't handle it all in one file so had to revert to the good old tried and tested techniques.

I see......now do you have a Mid-Range or High End PC?? just curious what kind of power is required.

I just went over to E-On and watch the Vue intro movie. Wow! Fantastic program. To me, Vue makes Bryce look wimpy. With the wind, flying through the clouds, waves and all.  I have Vue 4 and I've had Bryce since Bryce 3D. I bought Bryce 6.1 'cause it was cheep. But I've seen amazing stuff created with both programs. I quess I'm a blaphemer to speak of Vue things in the House of Bryce.

I've got a P4 3.2 GHz hyperthreaded with 2 gb ram  (no multicore/dual core/core duo stuff) cheapest vid card I could get when I got the pc (ati 9200 ish 128MB vidram) about 2 years ago now.

So about mid range PC for these days. 

Breaking things up into subscenes can get you around most system resource issues - I have some bryce tut's on my website that go into how I make my big images in bryce.
