I recently upgraded from CS2 to CS3 and as part of the package Adobe offered me a choice from three free items. The one that I picked was a 30-day free access to a wonderful website of tutorials (not just Photoshop) called Lynda.com. This site has some wonderful easy-to-follow tutorials, but for me the absolute highlights were the ones by Bert Monroy. What a genius. I recommend you Google his name and see his images. They are fantastic and all created with just Photoshop

quite true jack,
i had the great pleasure of sitting in on one of berts one-day training sessions in pittsburgh this spring. it was tremendous!!!
there is something about being able to see AS he explains that really kicks it up to a new level. He is one teacher that walks through the procedure to shows HOW to achieve an effect and not just the final output
i whole recommend checking out this skillful artist!!!

I agree that Bert is an artistic master of PS. However, for someone who know PS insiide oud, upside down, waking and sleeping, it has to be Deke Mcllelan(sp?). The man is scary in how facile he is in PS. He awes me with his casual genius. Not the art guy that Bert is, but rruly a marvel.

I also admire Deke but he is a completely different animal from Bert. Deke's tutorials in Lynda.com are brilliant for explaining the various functions in Photoshop. But Monroy's talent is in being able to look at any scene and re-create it by using just Photoshop. Looking at his images, it is hard to believe that they are not photographs.
