Hello to all of you.
I've just discovered that there was a free stuff forum. I should check this section more often. ;-)
Anyway, I'm pleased to announce that I posted a new castle (the castle of Rambures, with a very specific round shape) in the free stuff section. It is available in both VOB and OBJ formats, and the two files come with textures included.
Thanks for any feedback (especially troubles with loading the obj file in different apps. It worked fine in LW, Hex, and Vue so far).

Thank you. I downloaded Rambures Castle and la chapelle de Chambon and converted both to Bryce obp easily. Load fine and textured.

I'm very glad to know that import works well in Bryce also. Thanks for the feedback ;-)
I will be on holliday in a few weeks, and, besides continuing (and hopefully finishing !) my animation project on Tannenberg, I intend to improve some other models, especially the castles of Crest and Dourdan.
As I now have Bryce 5.5, I will most certainly convert the models directly for Bryce, Vue, and Lightwave. For Poser and other apps, I'll stick to the obj format, because it's boring to create piles of folders to create props or figures :)
As you might have noticed, my very passion is the modelling of existing medieval buildings. I will certainly try to go for churches and abbeys next.
So if someone wants some specific building, don't hesitate to ask. (but I don't guarantee a) that I will do it; b) that I will be able to model it ; c) how long it would take :-) )

Well, I would love to have the "Sanctuaire de Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré" just outside Québec City here.

Sanctuaire Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré

AND

Château Frontenac in Québec City.

Château Frontenac

For both you can find many images at Google by typing:

sanctuaire sainte anne de beaupré
château Frontenac
(you can copy-paste these two to get the accents)

They are not medieval since we don't have medieval buildings around here but are both very old buildings.

Have wonderful vacations!!! ;o)

Ooops! Forgot to mention...

For Poser, you don't have to create lots of folders. As it is, you put everything in one folder (textures and objects). Simply import the object in Poser, save as prop, move the resulting pp2 file to the same folder. We'll manage. ;o)

That is for new Poser users. Experienced Poser users know how to convert to props.

Well your propositions are quite challenging. :-D
I believe I'll have to practice LWCAD a little before tackling these ones !
But who knows ?
There is an abbey I want to make first (the abbey of Evaux-les Bains), but afterwards, I'll try Château-Frontenac, just for fun (but it will definitely take some time !!!)
And one day, when I really have some time and skills, I will try my biggest challenge in modelling :
The castle of haut-Koenigsbourg...

Francemi posted Tue, 19 June 2007 at 8:43 AM

Quite challenging projects but I'm sure you can make it. You seem to have the most important tool to achieve it: passion. ;o)

Le château Frontenac will be a good practice. It doesn't matter that it takes time. It has been there for many years and I guess it will stand there at least as long as it takes for you to model it. loll

Have you ever been to Québec City? I just love it there. It is a 5 hour drive from my place but I've been there very often. I even spent a few days IN the Château Frontenac once during the Québec Carnaval.

Unfortunately, I've never been to Canada yet, it's kind of far from France, and my job takes so many time that I don't have much left for travels. Hope to go there, though, for my wife absolutely wants to go there.

Francemi posted Tue, 19 June 2007 at 10:54 AM

Well it would be a very lovely trip. I wish you can afford to come some day. For your wife, but also for you.

Bonnes vacances!

Well, hollidays will be only in three weeks, but thanks anyway ! :)

You're welcome. That is the only thing I miss since I had to quit working 6 years ago: VACATIONS! LOLL

Hello again. Not exactly a castle, but I updated my gothic vault in the free stuff/misc/obj section. It is now textured and comes in three versions : LWO, VOB and OBJ. OBJ file has been tested successfully to load in Poser 6 and Bryce 5.5. Hope you'll like it.

CaptainMarlowe posted Sat, 14 July 2007 at 12:15 AM

Hello again. I've also added a free medieval room in the Vue section. This object is for Vue, only, due to procedural textures. Hope you'll like it. Marl.

Hey! Are you not on vacations yet? ;o))

Back to the subject at hand: I think you should start a new thread each time you have a new freebie. Reason is that many users quit watching a topic after a few days without activity so they won't bother reading these new messages in an old thread. That is probably why you didn't have a single reply for your free vault.

Thanks for your models
Le Chateau Frontenac would be very nice for the 400 ieme anniversaire de Québec (1608-2008)

Francemi posted Sat, 14 July 2007 at 7:02 PM
