I hope someone can help me to find a, preferably posable, model of a hedgehog. So far I only found toonlike figures and one model with a smooth skin, so that's not what I'looking for. I want the real thing! I've seen a hedgehog modeled in 3d max and it looked terrific but since I have no skill in 3d max... Well I hope someone can end my search

Problem with a 'proper' hedgehog is all the prickles. Short of modeling them all and increasing the polygon count by a SCARY amount, the best way I can tihnk of to do this would be to start with a 'bald' model, and use dynamic hair to create the spines. By amping up the stiffness (and possibly reducing the verts per hair to 1 or 2), and increasing the thickness appropriately, you should be able to get the look you're wanting.

You can try there. I don't know if they have one or not, but they seem to have lots of animals that aren't found elsewhere. They don't offer downloads though. All purchases are shipped via CD, so either be prepared to pay for S&H or spending $30.00 or so to avoid the shipping costs.
I don't have any of the models but I know many here who will attest to the quality.

Well thanks for the replies, alas no hedgehog on vistainternetproducts. And about making my own, I've never done something like that before so perhaps I should give it a start to see where I end. In the meantime I'll keep looking and I would appreciate further help looking around. I found my question in some other forums but it seems a real 3d hedgehog doesn't exist, yet.
