I recently purchased a new computer which came with Vista (highly recomend everyone steer well clear of it).  The first speed bump I hit was Poser 5 does not work on Vista.  I purchased and installed Poser 7 however 90% of the time Poser locks when I attempt to render.  Does anyone know if this is a poser problem or Vista problem, and any ideas to correct it?  Thanks.

By the way, I have installed the latest Poser updates from E frontier.

Poser does not officially support Vista. I've heard rumbles of a "Vista" SR but don't hold your breath. Vista is worse then Windows ME ever was. If that's the best Redmond has to offer it's time for us all to think about Linux again.

I agree, Vista is terrible.  I've heard some people say they like it but I cant figure out why.  There are very few new options, it's just a shuffle around of old functions, a pain in the butt security feature that pops up with every function you attempt, a zero compatibility with todays software.  But since M$ has flodded the new computer market with this garbage we are forced to grin and bear it.

I think Vista works fine, so far everything I've installed has workde, and you can turn off the pop-up security messages. I don't see why everyone hates it so much.

Experiences are different I guess, but an indication something is wrong would be Microsofts own techs switching back to XP, E Frontier designers using vista for product testing only, and Dell fighting with Microsoft because they have chosen to release a line  of new computers with XP rather than Vista.

In a couple of years Vista might actually be less of a headache but there is very little new bang to the OS to warrant any change to it before you are forced to.  IMHO.

For me one of the biggest problems is how vista has disrupted my home network. It ran great before I bought a new pc with vista installed. Now I struggle to communicate with the non-vista machines - shuch a shame MS had to complicate things unnecessarily.

M$ did the exact same thing when they released XP. For some mysterious reason XP would freeze for a full minute when you tried to access a networked drive on a Win98 system. It should come as no surprise they would do the same with Ventas.

I talked to a guy at Comp USA today, about trying to strip Vista from a new PC and replace it with XP.  He said they'd tried it in their labs, and it doesn't work because the drivers in Vista are needed for the hardware and are not available in XP.  So now I'm bummin', as my brother says.  I get to try out the P7-Vista connection....

Cage can be an opinionated jerk who posts without thinking.  He apologizes for this.  He's honestly not trying to be a turkeyhead.

Cage had some freebies, compatible with Poser 11 and below.  His Python scripts were saved at archive.org, along with the rest of the Morphography site, where they were hosted.
