Actually he has posted 6 images at cgtalk....and granted the crits have been rough....but they have been honest crits and not just vicious attacks on the software used, like one would expect to get from the cgtalk crowd. One crit even said that Bryce has one of the best fractal editors out there.

I've posted some work there...it really is like entering an arena of ghouls waiting to draw their swords and cut you up.  I had one guy accuse me of not "respecting" 3D modellers just by using Poser to produce figures.  I've stopped posting there now; by voting with my virtual feet, I refuse to bow to narrow-minded tech bigots.  Funnily enough, the guy actually hasn't posted any of his own work......

Same here, I've posted a few pieces there as well. Got some great response and a little slapping around. If someone remarks on my work and they don't have anything posted themselves.........I guess it's like a drink of water from an empty well. For those that just want to throw you under the bus (hehe, Ive got recent experience in that), I guess they spent more time learning to be talented than courteous. (chuckling at the ignorance)

Paul Francis, ICM and drawbridgep I've always considered all three of you guys to be talented and creative souls, no matter what software package you have used and I've seen your posts over at cgtalk and have thought that the crits were very biased against the software used and disregarded the talent and experience expended to put together the artwork. Actually, with Bryce being a low end app, it takes more knowhow and knowledge to produce a high quality image than one that has been created in the expensive programs. To get Bryce to produce is truly an accomplishment.

See, vangogh just proved my point.  :-)

The masochist in me makes me want to post some images over there, sit back and wallow in the bile...:) critics who have posted no images themselves...they'd feel my wrath.

 

Tempting to see what sort of hate can come out after posting a SOW image over there. ;-) 

Most people over there are actually nice guys and not at all that bad, but naturally a few rotten apples pop up occasionally, it´s unavoidable no matter what forum you visit. 

Unfortunatly there´s still a few people around thinking that a huge pricetag is equal to CG greatness. Fortunatly these people are also a dying breed.

I've made this point before - the sniping, almost unbelievably petty comments over there seem never to be made by the truly inspirational artists (who are also the ones who take the trouble to actually provide valuable critiques and advice) who post there.....!  It's weird, the difference between 'there' and 'here'.....here, most people who have a say also post their own work and accept the works at face value, regardless of the methods of production.

Maybe, in a future dictionary, if they want a defintion of the word "snobbery" they could link to some of the comments over there.

I think the big difference lies in what the forums look like. 
While CGtalk is basically one big section where most people are somewhat anonymous, here at Renderosity people in one forum usually know each other well and know people using different apps in one or more of the other forums. 
Add to the fact that there are more beginners here(most of them are intimidated to post at CGtalk), and you get a completely different climate.

Although suckers do exist everywhere. I used to have my fair share of "This sucks" and similar comments in most places i´ve posted images, especially when i was using Bryce. I just didn´t pay them any attention unless they came with something constructive.

Any real artist know the value of using different tools for different purposes regardless of pricetag, so you should just treat snobbery like air and focus on the valuable comments. After all, those are the ones that really counts.

      Overall I like CG talk. I like to get some honest crits on my work it helps me improve. Some of the posters are a bit pedantic and annoying at times but I find often there is something there you can take home and work on.  Used to post a lot in the Wings forum there too that place was a bit freindlier than the rest of CG talk.
    I find there are a few Genre specific sites for CG that have more meanspirited posts. Often has to do with their views of the genre and if you stray from it they will get nasty with you. I don't need that.

I myself like both renderosity and cgnet, I even joined one of there chalenges "the space opera"
I thought it a good exercice to learn blender. I am now thinking of again joining the challenge called "strange behaviour" oddly enough I just made an animation of a robot that was on a home trainer that fits the bill perfectly! that can be seen on my homepage under the 3d section.I might rework it and enter the comp. About the illbread posters if they dont have any works themselves I allways think that It are fake acounts of people who dont dare critizise directly and ignore them. Id say join also the chalenge there are enough artists in here that make a good change to win in one ofthe categories. nice prizes too, computers 3d software etc.
