I have several hair figures that show up in the preview mode without a texture. I remember reading somewhere how you could change this but can't remember where or how. What I would like to do is have the preview mode show the image map so you can see the color etc without doing a test render. I have tried changing it in the material room render color but no luck so far. Any ideas from folks with better memories than mine.
Thanks,
Dan

if you have Poser 6 or 7 you can use open gl mode but frankly Poser's Open GL doesnt do well with multiple layers of transparency so no matter what the hair with transparency will look rather strange.

I have poser 7 on one of the new MacBook Pros and it works very well. In fact I have been pleasantly surprised at the speed. Anyway, I thought it was at setting in the .hr2 file somewhere that wouldn't let you change the preview mode. I think my setup is for OpenGL already. I will have to check on that though.
Thanks

Do you mean they come in as lit wireframe or other display method?
Or do you mean they load pure white, with no textures?
If it's the latter, then that's the way the creator made the figure or prop. You could try applying a texture, then saving it back to the library?

Lite wireframe, not texture. I have tried copying the texture to the preview node but that doesn't change how it renders in the preview mode. I have not tried doing that and then saving and then adding it to the scene. I will have to try that tonight. Thanks for the idea.

OK, if it's in lit wirreframe then just go to Display>Element (or Figure, if it's a cr2 hair) and change it to Texture shaded, apply whichever texture takes your fancy, then resave to library.

^^ Yep that's how it's done.

Keep in mind that on some figure hairs you might have to select the neck (body part) to make this (karen's solution) work, vs the head as a body part or the entire body of the figure hair. If making one type of selection doesn't work, select another body part until it does.
