IF you are could you please tell me if you've experienced a slow down in your speed in which your pages load and in sending or receiving email since Saturday evening 14JULY?  I have Verizon and was getting great performance until Sat evening as a matter of fact both other computer on this net works is having th same issue so I know it's not my PC, as Verizon would have me believe, I did some speed test and I am getting a data transfer rate just above a V.90 dial up modem. Been on the phone with them but, you know, it's not them it's my computer so I guess every computer on the network has a problem and our phones too I guess.

I did all their little trouble shooting shite and they even sent a new modem cuz the one we had was not holding my account info and still the speed stinks like...well STINKS. Just wonderinf if anyone else up here in NE is noticing the same?

Thanks

I'm in North Central Massachusetts with Verizon DSL and haven't had any speed problems at all. Just did a speed test and it's slightly higher than my average, up and down. Of course, since DSL uses phone lines, it could be a very localized problem resulting from damage caused by weather, etc...

You may need to insist that they send a tech out to check your signal strength and line noise at your home and at the pole. Because DSL uses a frequency range outside that used by voice communication, you could experience no degradation in voice quality, but still have noise effecting your DSL line.

It could also be a defective line filter (you should have filters that plug in between your phones and the wall jacks). You could try unplugging the phones in your house to see if it effects DSL speed. If it does, plug the phones back in one at a time until you find the defective filter.

We do not use fliters that plug into the phone jacks as we have what is called a "Homerun" box outside that has the DSL flitering directly wired into the buildings internal phone lines. As I said this started Sat night after never having a problem with speed we were right up there with cable in speed. We had DSL service up until we got Time warner and that crappy digital phone and when they came to intall all that crap they cut into Verizon's phone line that were wired into the building when we tossed time warner out and had verizon come back in they did some repair to what TW had done but I don't think they got it all. We had great DSL for the first week until the TW was out working on the pole and our DSL went into the tank.

Yeah we've got sync and I've seen the line test from VOL home office but something outside isn't right or when the tried to rewire stuff they didn't get something. I don't know a DSL tech from verizon will be here friday to check things out and don't think I won't be hounding this guy with a million and a half questions and I hope they bring a laptop. My wife called about the problem and I wished I did so I could tell the tech to bring a laptop so they could see the crap speed for themselves.
