How do I  make a light gel from a b&w image, or  how do I make my o wn b&w .mat file to use as a gel? (Vue6)

you can just ad a image to the light gel... no need to make it a mat file..
I used the new R'O logo as a gel in one of my last images ...
Works  perfect !!

Thanks! I'll try it out.  Great image btw.  What did you use to get the firey bits?

BAR-CODE posted Wed, 18 July 2007 at 7:27 PM

The fire bits are in the NEW logo of this site...

It's not accepting either .bmp or .jpg.  What file format should I use?

Yes it does ... your doing something wrong i think..
Remember to click the mapped picture option.. otherwise its looking for MAT files..

First you need to looad one of the gels from your collection, then right click the sphere to edit the function,  then replace the procedural function by a bitmap node, and finally, load in the bitmap you want to use;
You'll need to set the mapping mode to vertical.

Thankyou, it worked!!!

I want to make a gel out of the tree's shadow.  Is it possible to render only the shadow and not the tree itself?

Thanks...

Yes, in the Advanced material editor check "Only Shadows". The object will not render but the shadow  it casts will.
