Well you can't use that banner in your signature because the bottom half of the girl has nudity in it. It would need to be covered with a bikini or something.

Also it shouldn't be too big as those can break the table and cause the page you post in to look horrible. And the big banners are really just annoying imo.

As far as how to get a banner to appear in your signature, I'll have to go research that myself as I don't do HTML very often and I don't use a banner in my signature:)

You'll have to paste in the editor using the 'source' button 😉

just as an aside, I turned off sigfile display the same week they enabled it, due to all the annoying banners.

yet you have that annoying scrolling for the rest of us.... wonders how to block that along with the rest of the banners with Adblock.. but keeping sig files on for the serious stuff....

Add :-

marquee { visibility: collapse; }

to your forum stylesheet.

Click on 'My Forum Options' at the top of this page, then copy this 'My Gallery' link below I made for you, and paste it into the large text box that says 'My Signature" then click 'save' right below that text box ;)

noel, thx fr the code. I also disabled avatar display the same week they enabled it. I believe it may speed up page-loading (and avoid filling up browser cache) by disabling both avatars and banners (sigfiles).

That probably helps, but not loading the editor for every thread is what make the biggest difference (for me) but you need a GreaseMonkey script for that.

try blocking http://www.google-analytics.com to see a real speed up ;)

noel, I'm in luck as far as the editor. it doesn't load in any of my usual browsers. the reason is that they are all "non-compliant with the forum software", which in the states is called "the tail wagging the dog".

Already perma-blocked using NoScript.

yeah, I see that down near the bottom - urchinTracker. Is it to allow them to see everywhere we go from this site?

Not exactly sure what it's for, maybe something to do with collecting information related to Google ads.
I won't be letting it run anytime soon.

it's a webmaster tool to track users on a site. see this thread by Khai over at Daz : http://forum.daz3d.com/viewtopic.php?t=61541&highlight=

to quote :

*seems a script that allows the webmaster (and Google) to see what a user is doing on a site is loaded.

not that bad (aside from the report back)

but the slow down is caused by how it's used. each time we refresh or load a site the script is called from the Google servers.

now, on Daz alone, that is what, 300 calls a minute, at least? and thats just 1 site. now, imagine just how many sites use this service. (I know of at least 50 I've found since I started looking...)

the slowdown comes when you have god knows how many users (from estimates I've found say from a few hundred thousand to several million) all having the script sent from the google servers... a second. can we say bottleneck?

now for the user on a personal level? it means every site that uses this GA will be slowed down constantly... and since it seems more and more sites are using it... (for example alone, it's used by : Daz, Rendo, CP....)*
