I don't know if it was Poser 5 or Poser 6, but, in one or other of them, Open GL clashed with my display driver. If I moved the cursor over a figure, bodyparts, or the whole body, would vanish for a few seconds. Then, at last, a driver update came along and the problem was banished to the outer darkness.
A few weeks ago, I tried to install a demo version of some software and found that it wouldn't even start. I hunted down a device driver and I was able to start the application and run it. Odd thing, though: I had to re-install the device driver, every time I wanted to use the prog. Then, yesterday, I discovered that even this wheeze no longer did the trick. The software just wouldn't run at all.
I located another new driver and installed it (having to install a bunch of MS updates for compatibility, against strenuous efforts from Windows Update not to let me have them). At last, it went on and the software did a Lazarus. Everything was fine.
Then I started Poser and thought it was a bit strange, the way half of Terai Yuki vanished, whenever the cursor came close. Strange, but strangely familiar, too.
So I suppose this isn't entirely OT: how much do I lose out by using SreeD, instead of Open GL? It's mainly Poser 7 that I use now.
