I just found this notice by Antoine Clappier in the Yahoo Groups Carrara list Dear Dreamers, Contrary to the current rumors on the Carrara-List, we have not changed our minds! We are definitely going to release a re-branded and bug fixed Carrara before the V2.0. It has always been our goal and we are not going to change that. It would be simpler and more lucrative for us to simply ship the MetaCreations version "as is". But we think that quality has to come first. That is why Carrara is not available today and will not until we reach the best quality possible. Our current target is to release Carrara V1.x at the end of May 2001. To the ones who believe that Eovia is wanting to do some easy money with Carrara V1.x, I can reveal that this version will be entirely FREE for the registered users of Carrara V1.0. In addition all Ray Dream, Infini-D and Amapi 3D users will receive a very special offer to upgrade or "sidegrade" to Carrara V1.x. Carrara, Infini-D and Ray Dream users will also get a special price to sidegrade to Amapi 3D v.6. We will announce this special offer within the next ten days. I hope that these few comments will stop the current rumors. If things remain unclear feel free to comment and ask questions. I will be glad to answer. Happy rendering to all ! This is good news. Now, how do we register with Eovia and prove we have a legal copy of Carrara, RDS, or Infini-D?

Yes! Good news indeed. I'm sure they will give more info on how to register when it is finally announced.
