i am a graphic newbie as you can see by the image i put on my gallery page. I had gathered some items for use in Daz but when i try to add it all i get is a empty folder on the left side tool bar. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You need to add you're content through the proper file structure in your Operating System rather than in DAZ|Studio.

Until you get used to things I would recomend using the default Runtime folder located in the Studio file. Do this...

  1. Create a folder on your desktop naming it whatever you would like.
  2. Extract the contents of the .zip files into the new folder.
  3. Locate the "Content" folder on your computer. in Windows it will be here -

C:Program FilesDAZStudiocontent

  1. Copy the Runtime folder of your new files(from step 2) and paste them into C:Program FilesDAZStudiocontent.
  2. You will get a notification from your OS asking you if it is okay to merge the contents with the existing Runtime folder.
  3. Answer yes.
  4. Open DAZ|Studio and your new content will be available.

I've been using D|S for a year now and this is stil the way I do it.

I took a look at the image in your gallery and I find it to be quite inventive for a newcomer. Looking forward to seeing more.

If what he says is not happening, you may need to go into the Edit: Prefrences menu.  Or press F2.  Then, when this happens, go to directories and the poser subcatagory.  What I do, is I usually click Remove All, and do a search in my C drive for any poser compatable files.  If you chose not to do it in C, its still accepable.  In fact, if you don't know your source file location for your poser content, you can always search your entire computer, but it will take a long time.  This way, you will be able to quickly and easily find each and every single one of your poser compatable files without having to do it manually one by one.

In order to go forward, one must often times look to the past.

Great pic for a newbie, you have set it up well.
If you plan on getting a lot of props  (check out the freebies section by the way it is awsome!)  Then put extra  folders in your content folder such as 'people' , animals, structures, vehicles etc. That way you are not hunting all over the place in one HUGE messy folder like mine originally was. If you want to contact me through the site mail I can give you a copy of what my folder set up looks like. Keep creating. Jenny
