Subject: File name curiosity... "#" = whatizzit?

There are two files saved in the same version of PhotoShop, and as far as I know saved exactly the same. You will note an 8 at the end of one and an 8 with a **"#"** on the other file. Both are cmyk 8bit .eps files.

Maybe you can tell me what the "#" means?

That is part of the colour management. The # just means that the file has no profile information and PS is not set to add one.
