I wanted to do this for quite some time, but I was never able to make the horse's neck fit Vicky's body as tightly as necessary to completely avoid postwork.
But with the P7 morphbrush, it was just about two hours work.

Of course a "proper" Centaur would have to be made from a single, merged object, but you'd have to either re-rig the human part or the horse part from scratch for the new cr2, so I guess this will do for while.

Thanks Neyjour.
Here's the same technique using Maddie and the foal.

Looking great! There's one available in the marketplace(V4) that looks really good, too.
Marque posted Mon, 20 August 2007 at 7:30 PM
I actually like this one better. Checked out the one in the marketplace but he has a skirt where the bodies join, I could do that myself. Like these because they look more like I picture a centaur would look. Good job.

This is definitely the better way to go. I wonder how difficult it would be to export the obj welded, then cut and paste the relevant parts of the figure rigs back into them. An actual centaur has been on the want list for some time...at least I've wanted one I could animate.... ;)

I'm surprised Daz never jumped on it, it would be an instant sale for most folks.

Well, they had one way back in the Zygote/P4 days....and never really supported it. It was sort of just 'there', and not that great. A good potential background character (well, far background), but..... And yeah, I'd think that they would at least field a conversion kit, for those who own both the horse and human figures.....

Damn! THois is great!
I just found out about this thread over at the DAZ Forums where I started another similar thread.
Check it out.

Yeah I am one of those loud guys that has been begging for a better Centaur and pretty much criticizing the current offerings...until I saw this. THis is what I picture my imaginary centaurs to look like. There is credible and "REAL" balance in the character and how the animal and human parts work together. I agree DAZ really needs to see this and figure out a way to weld the Mil Horse and David (not Mike3...please) to give us all something that looks like this good as one mesh!
Some time ago someone at DAZ tried putting one together using the MilHorse and Mike 3 and I didn't like it at all. There was a very definate balance problem between the man's body and the horse. Too stretched and off balance. Similar with the composited one in the store even with the skirt it looks off.
I loved the old DAZ Centaur and use it a lot because ther is that good balance in the construct. I would even be happy if DAZ would just tweak that figure by offering some more realistic morphs for the stupid DORK face and body stype morphs and better texturing. I would love to see a short fat centaur or an old wizend one or a skinny old female one with a sway-back horse body and saggy boobs or a buffed out male like the Freak but a bit more credible. Or as you have here morphs for young ones. These options could be add-on packages I would buy no matter the price.
Of all the options I have seen out here these versions/characters come closest to the balace of the old DAZ Centaur which, despite being short in realism and greatly lacking in versatility, has been pretty much the marker by which I have come to judge the other offerings and closest to how I imagine a Centaur to look like if they were to exist (See Chronicles of Narnia).
The bummer for me right now is though I have Poser7 I can't run it yet on my older system! :(
So come on DAZ get this together.

Love the first one, but lose the top and give her long hair/mane to cover her modesty instead...
