Hello,
I've got a major problem. All of a sudden, Vue6 won't work anymore. I've tried everything I can think of. Uninstall, re-install, install on different drive.
Here's what happens. It opens fine and and I can access all the options but when I load an object and try to render, it crashes big time.
Thought it might be Open-GL but all of my other programs that use Open-GL work fine. Tried compatability mode with wireframe. Same results.
I'm at my wits end. Any and all help greatly appreciated.

That sounds like it's time to contact e-on tech support. Did you update any drivers or load any new software lately?

What Operating System are you using? If Vista it could be the Aero Desktop, which you can turn off for a certain program.
Did you delete the Esprit folders before you reinstalled the software? There may be a corrupt file that is stopping you from Rendering.
Did you try the External Renderer?

Well, thanks all for the help. It's working again but don't ask me what I did to get it to work. I just fiddled around with the video configurations. Something along the way must have messed them up.
Unfortuneatly, I lost about a years worth of work. Mostly a lot of custom textures and objects. Luckily, I did have backups of the purchased stuff. Now comes the fun of re-installing it all.

Well, that lasted about a minute. The problem is back again. I'm at my wits end.
Next to try: Some of my WinXp files were udated. That may be the culprit.

Well, that didn't work.
If someone could give me a clue.
Heres's what happens. Everything works fine until I try to render something then it slows down to a crawl or crashes entirely. I've tried the compatiblity mode and wireframe. Same results.
HELP!!!

Does it crash even for a preview mode render? Can you post a picture of your render settings?

Well, it's hard for anyone to help you if you won't answer their questions! What OS are you using. What is your hardware configuration? What scene are you trying to render? What are your render settings?

Okay Okay. Don't holler at me!
Here are my settings. As an experiment, I dl and installed the Vue6PLE. It did the same thing as my Vue6. So, it must be something in either my system or the graphics card. The thing I don't understand is that I have Bryce 6.1, DAZ Studio, all th Poser versions, and other various graphics programs and they all work just fine. This is just so weird!

Not sure why you have a 64 bit processor yet only use a 32 bit OS though that shouldn't matter for your problem.
Have you tried OpenGL hardware accelerated? Currently you have it set to software.
Otherwise you have almost the same exact setup I have except I use Vue6Inf and XP64.

It looks like you have the latest NVidia drivers. Can you even render a simple scene using Final render settings?
Here are a couple of things to check:
You could have some bad memory. Get a memory checker and let it run overnight.
Your machine could be getting too hot and crashing. Is it on the floor? If so, perhaps dust has gotten into it and is creating some thermal problems. Can you check the temperature of your MB and see if it is in range?

I can't render anything in any mode.
I've checked the heat levels on the cpu and motherboard and they are okay. Not too hot.
On a side note: Since I did the xp updates, my machine has started to crawl. Seems to take too long to load even basic programs.
I'm about to get primeval on this machine and do an xp reinstall.

I would assume you've tried virus checkers and spyware. Sounds like that may be a possibility.
Before reinstalling XP, I'd walk thru each running process and Google them to see if there's anything fishy about any of them as well-- though that can be a difficult thing to do correctly.

Try a system restore too before going the whole re-install XP route. I've had it help me out a few times! Plus, do a cleanup and defrag on your hard drive.

Okay, I THINK I have the problem solved. I have a Maxtor 750g external usb drive. It seems it installs a process to sync backups or some such. Well, between that and my recent XP upgrades, it apparently banged into Vue6 messing things up. I removed the process and all works fine now (fingers and toes crossed).
Also, on a side note. While digging around in XP's innards, I noticed it is now installing a program I hadn't seen before. It's called CTFMON.EXE. Anyone know what the heck this is?
Anyways, thanks for all the support and help. I really appreciate it. If there is ever anything I can do for you folks, just give me a holler.
