Hey everyone,I know I haven't been around here in like "forever" since I have been working 10-12 hour days for the past six months working on the latest version of Blacksmith3D-Suite 3.0. I hope that you don't find this post too commercial, but I felt it important to announce that I have released an absolutely free version of Blacksmith3D-Paint 3.0. It has some of the more advanced features disabled of course and the maximum texture size is capped at 1024x1024, but it is otherwise a very useful tool for any graphic artist.
The software is still officially beta, however it is very stable and useable on most systems. If you find any problems with it, please email me a bug report and I'll patch it up.
The software runs on Windows 98 and up, and Mac OS X 10.3.9 and up. It will probably run on 10.2, but I haven't tested it yet. It is a universal binary, meaning that it is optimized for both intel and power pc based macs.
So, to reiterate... Blacksmith3D-Paint-Freeware 3.0 is completely free and not save disabled. Download it and make lots of wicked graphics!
Dave, a.k.a. Konan
p.s. To anyone who may have tried to contact me and not received a reply, I do apologize. I have been super stressed out with this project and I am happy that it is now coming to be :D
p.s.2 Tutorials and manual will be available soon, but for now, just poke around figure it out :D. A hotkey guide is available, and read the hints within the interface, as they contain lots of useful information.

urrrr... hmmm... right..... I don't see a link for just the freeware BlackSmith 3D Paint. Do I have to download Blacksmith3D-Suite 3.0 Beta 2, then use the Paint section or... ???

Hey Infinity10,
It's all in the same installation. The freeware and the commercial version share common files, so they are simply bundled together.

Thanks Dave for popping in - take it easy with the stressing it'll get finished when it gets finished - I know we all want it now! But rather have a finished product than finish off the producer ;)

One quick question. Will there be upgrade pricing on the final product for people who bought Suite 2.2 (or parts of it) before January? I bought Morph a while back, and don't qualify for the free upgrade.

**butterfly_fish... Absoultely there will be upgrade pricing. Now that I have a stong beta version out, the next week or two will be dedicated to getting everything organized and ready for the final release.
** **hewee... I haven't had a chance to test it out on Windows 98 SE as of yet (I'll have to find a computer that acutally has it installed), but the problem may also be due to your video card (the #1 reason why it is not work on some computers). If you can email me at quality@blacksmith3d.com your system specifications and a good description on how it is not working (does it simply crash, can you see the interface at any point, etc.) I'll see if I can figure it out.

Hey, Konan,
Quick question, since every time I try to click to get to your forum, I'm redirected to the front page.....Is there somewhere that we can view the output before we download and try it out? I bought the first version a couple years back (back when I was MorriganShadow, lol), and had LOTS of problems with the 3D paint.

You think I should get one of your other pass Demo versions first that are the zip no install first just to see if it will work at all.

Hey hewee,
Oh, so it the installler that is not working on 98? Oh that should be easy to fix then. I'll hook you up with a ZIP file tomorrow and you can let me know if it runs OK. Please send me an email and I'll send you the download link when it is ready.
JenX... Yeah, the forum is offline. I am not sure if I am going to keep it up, since it was getting spammed quite heavily and it is a big job just maintaining it. I am going to look into other options in that department, or just stick to email support. The 3D painting has evolved drastically since the previous versions and it no longer depends on your video card. All 3D painting is done with our own software algorithms, so it works the same on all computers (although it is obviously faster on faster CPUs).
Hey Melikia, I hope you like it an please feel free to provide lots of feedback, even if you only use the free version. You input would be greatly appreciated.

No I did not say that the installer was not working. I never tried it because you said you did not know if it worked on 98. I was asking about the other older zip versions you already had.
But hey if you want to make a zip version with no need to install then it's ok with me.
Will PM you a address.
