Lots of good stuff here. Hope you find it useful.Acadia posted Tue, 11 September 2007 at 2:54 PM
I was looking through the list of programs there and saw this caution remark under the Icon program:
Quote - Update 7/22/2007
Users have reported the presence of the virus “win32 adload.aw” in this program. Download for this app is not supported any more. Thanks for the help.
Unfortunately that put up a red flag for me.

I think sourceforge.net is the best place to find open source and freeware programs. You get the latest up to date version and it comes directly from the creator

for Macs, versiontracker.com is your best choice.
for free/open-source software, Sourceforge or (better still) freshmeat.net is *-*the- place to go.

Yep, I saw the warning on the Icon Suite and disabled download. If you'll notice, all the links are to the sowftware oiginator's sites or Sourceforge, so this is not a repository. It's just as safe to initiate a download from this address as any other, but these days every download is a real crap shoot. I include MicroSoft in that statement, too. I never ever unzip a file or run a downloaded executable without scanning it first. You have to wonder how empty a person's life must be for them to derrive pleasure from deliberately injuring others.

Lack of empathy usually results from temporal or frontal lobe brain damage. You know, people who like to torture cats, dogs, insects, people. There is a strong case for this link and serial murderers.
There may be a genetic/developmental/environmental link to lesser forms of non-empathy, especially cases where one releases their destructive behavior anonymously and remotely. For them, the cure may be 'a taste of their own medicine' to reenforce the lowered empathetic motives into more empathetic ones. It would need to be done in a punitive form though so that it remains within societal norms (darn). ;)
