i want to take an existing Poser figures Geom/obj file into another app, and add to the geometry and then replace it back into the Geom. folder Is there a way i can take the figures original rigging info and save it so that when i bring the new Geo back into Poser i can just "paste" that info's text back into the figure? thank you ^ ^

The problem lies in adding to the geometry. The rigging info is in the cr2 and if the geometry is changed things go a bit haywire. Depending on what you want to add to it you might try modeling it as a prop and then do somthing like replace body part with prop. Then save the new figure.

Actually I want to take a Poser figure, wearing clothes, and export that as the new obj file, then replace the original figure file with that, after eliminating the poke thru polygons

Still on the newbee side of the curve. But couldn't you modify the object file and reimport as a morph target. I realize that is using a different term..Add in the original question vs Modify. Regarding the original question, couldn't you copy and paste the bones for the original item into the added onto item (like you do with clothes) then add additional bones if required?

it might work, if ya delete all the hidden body parts. then a new cr2 file hasta be created (tedious).

yes that is doable, it should be pretty straight forward just export the object with the clothing on and when you save it out of the modeler save it all in one piece since the clothing and the figure will have the same group names they should be treated as part of the same group, so all you would need to do is make a copy of the original cr2 and change the obj refrences to point at your new object. But you will have two major drawbacks trying to do things this way, the first is that you will have to adjust all the joint parameters to encompass the clothing as well as the figure. and the second is that since this is essentially a brand new object the virtex count will be completely different you will loose all morphs.

Exactly as wdupre states. :)
It may speed up the tediousness if you use the joint parameters for the clothes where possible - since these already cover the clothing item, eh? 'Where possible' means where the considerations of exposed under-figure might require a compromise between the clothes and figure JPs.
