RENDER NODE, WHAT IS IT GOOD FOR?

You install it on a additional computers to accelerate renders. That way you can have multiple CPUs working on the image/animation. Mark

Officially, no. Unofficially, yes. I do know some folks running hybrid Mac/PC render networks. Mac networks are pretty easy to set up. PC networks take a little more network knowledge. A hybrid network takes even more. So, if you've got a good handle on network configuration knowlege, it will work fine.

I have to make a sharing network between them anyway for file swapings..
So i'll give it a go sometime.....
