I am not certain if this violates some sort of net-etiquette rule; however, I figure you can't get in too much trouble saying something nice.
As a complete newcomer to 3d graphics, I picked up Poser 7 on a bit of a whim and am having a blast using it.
Part of that enjoyment has come from finding Renderosity and the Rendesority forums. I am not in the computer field whatsoever, but have dabbled in beta-testing games and browsed forums for other hobbies and I would like to say that I have never had the pleasure of being on a forum such as this.
Whether it is because of the moderators, or the generally helpful camarederie of 3d graphics artists, or both, these forums reflect very positively on this community. In my very short time here, I have found the members to be very helpful and patient without any feeling of being condescended at. Even discussions in which opinions differ (having browsed quite a few threads), are friendly and professional. In fact, I have not really seen any discussions that have been hostile.
I just wanted to say thanks for such a great introduction!

The moderators do a good job of keeping these forums useful. Hostility is pretty much against the rules. Left to their own devices, people would do as people do and exhibit the full range of hostility endemic in the human animal. It happens occasionally and the thread is locked. Sometimes there's even a preemptive lock.

Pwned!! Noob!! Oh, sorry that's the reply at just about every other forum on the net. Here we just say welcome.
And I agree, I don't post here as much as I should considering I read the board every day, but I've never had a question someone didn't answer politely and usually ridiculously quickly.
So have fun with poser and ask, and someone will answer.

Ask me a question about the material room. Go ahead, ask me.
Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

Uh.......how many forums did you say that you've participated in........?
Thanks for the kind words -- and welcome to Renderosity. The admins here have worked long and hard to achieve the results that are as you see.

I'll do my best to ruffle things up once in awhile. I'm outspoken and can'r keep my mouth shut very much. The mods need something to occupy their time.
Actually, since I'm still on Poser 6, I don't have too much to say ... sorry.

Helpful is better for everyone than otherwise. So in a way we are helping ourselves as much as each other.
Also helping people is better karma than being a bunghole! And smells better, too! LOLOLOLOLOLOL

Ok, I'll bite  (I'll be gentle, I promise!)
Do you have a centralized location where even some of your vast knowledge of the Material room is kept? I love fiddling in there, but I will be the first to tell you that I have no idea what the F I'm doing in there  If it ends up pretty, I'm down with it. But, I'd like to know what I did, why it happened, and what I can do to make it better :D I'm all perfectionisty like that ;)
