Hi
I was reading the thread and i looked at last years winners, none of them were 'photographs' (although they were fantastic) so is it a photgraph or graphic art? I am a little confused as the rules state mild postwork

bclaytonphoto posted Tue, 25 September 2007 at 4:44 AM

Last year we didn't have a "photography" section. This year we do.

The link above is just the photography portion. there is a seperate section for 2 and 3 D work

See above. Postwork is allowed but your photo must still be recognizable as a photo. If not, enter in the 2D category.

I have an idea already, just hope i can pull it off in time... bring on the bloodworks! >:-)

Btw - might it not be a decent idea to have the original submitted along with the "edited" version so that you guys can make a decision on the validity of the photo?

You can always run it by Bruce or myself if you are not sure it is still "photo" enough. TwoPynts@renderosity.com pushinfaders@renderosity.com Or host it on a site like photobucket and send us a link. Thanks.

Mild postwork is allowed. Your image must still be recognizable as a photo.

Am I to take it that photomanipulation is allowed, so long as the ultimate work still resembles a photo? Or is a manip considered too much postwork?

Manip is acceptable, but no 3D or other non-photographic elements allowed. The viewer must be able to see it's photograhic basis. If it looks too much like a collage, painting or drawing, it needs to go into another category like 2D.

Like I said, there is always the 2D/3D category winky, though I think you'd do better in the Photo genre. ;')

so putting a scar on a face where there wasnt a scar before is not photography? or doing something like closing an eye up in postwork and replacing it with a gaping bleeding hole is not acceptable? or is it if you took another shot or said scar or hole and put it into the picture in post?

Just letting my mind go into overdrive...

All the "elements" in the image need to be from you own photography. Manipulated is okay, but it has be be recognizably a photograph. If it starts to look like an illustration, painting or cartoon, put it in the 2D/3D category. And that means no adding of non-photographic elements like digital 3D skulls, etc.

Thanks... its the "elements" = your own work and photography which i think i was after there. :)

Sorry to bother again but:

Contest Closes: Monday, October 22, 2007 at 12:00 p.m. (CST Renderosity Server Time) .

Midnight on Monday night or Midday Monday? I'm running short on time to get this done and might need monday to do it ;)

(I never got which 12 o'clock was the PM and which was the AM - 24 hour clock is so much better - the army got something right it seems 😉)

ROTFLMAO   Hahahahahahaha!!!! I almost just got coffee all over my keyboard. Your avie cracked me up big time, Kortaloo!

Anyway...I was about to say I'm glad Rich asked. I would've automatically assumed the cut-off was at midnight.

Good to know! Hope I can find the time to do something.

It would have been really nice if the contest description had said midnight or noon, or even 11:59 or 12:01 so it was clear... I now have an entry and was 45 minutes too late to enter, which I didn't understand until I found this forum thread. sigh

bclaytonphoto posted Mon, 22 October 2007 at 3:12 PM

I'll make sure the next one does that..
sorry for the confusion..

But then again..I didn't write the contest page..

I think i submitted mine with about 30 mins to go... had to go to the shops in the morning for some props and then took a while setting the shot up.  Bit of a rush towards the end but a fun shoot after a very busy week :)

Sorry you ended up having a problem with it PumaWalkingSoftly, that sucks :(

Good luck to everyone!
