I am learning to use photoshop cs2 and it is not very user friendly as corel's paintshoppro but I am determine to learn this program.
What do I have to do in order to resize one layer without it affecting the other layers? It should be simple but I end up resizing all of the layers. I have not linked the layers together, I've tried locking the other layers in place.
I am running out of ideas.

Click on layer to select it, press CTRL+T for free transform and resize :)
Only thing that could puzzle you is layer set. If you have multiple layers in layer set, and then try to resize layer set it will resize all of them :)
If its nothing of above, post printscreen :)

In Free Transform mode, hold down the Shift key to maintain a mathematical relationship (eg, when re-sizing, shift will keep the length and width relative to each other, when rotating it will rotate in 15-degree increments, etc).
Glad you're learning! I've been using Photoshop for so long that I consider it very intuitive, and have a hard time understanding Corel's programs.

I dont like Corel at all, Draw for example is forest of options which makes total mess. FreeHand have half less options and its working like swiss knife. Its just my opinion :)

I love Draw in CorelDraw but not Corel Photo-Paint. The magnify is amazing. Plus being able to rotate guides really helps. Just wish you were able to use the space bar as a panning hand like in Adobe products.
