I want to import or make 3D text in poser any ideas whats the best / cheapest way to do this

Yoy can't make 3d text in poser, I guess you could try using primatives but that would be difficult. Your best bet would be to use a modeling program, there are several out there and some are free like "Wings and Blender", you can create the text in there and export to PS.

download one of the freebie poser texts from freestuff here. cs3 is for viewing and texturing. I dunno if the modelling plug-in is available yet.

Look how smooth the tops of the letters are, this is 100x better than the Bryce Terrain editor.

Yeah I had problems importing the exported .dxf file from elefont too, poser couldn't read it.
wow this open source stuff is great, i'm looking for a video editor now ;-)
