I need a broken sword for a project can anyone tell me how to make a transmap that will do that?
I know I should know how to do that myself by now considering the length of time I have used poser but apparently it just hasnt come up yet lol.

Easy peasy. Load the OBJ into UVMapper and save out a texture template. Then you merely blacken in the area of the sword you want to be broken and missing and use white for the area that still exists. Then Plug the image into your transparency node for that object, set transparency to 1 and the blackened areas of the sword will be missing and the white parts will still be there.

um how the hell do you use uv mapper? I loaded the sword prop (aesthetic demon's rapier) and in the box is nothing but a mass of incoherant lines.

Now the easiest way " I " would do it, would be to use a modeling app such as the free, Wings 3D and loop cut the sword into however many pieces you want. Or use what ever modeler you have.

If you already have a Poser-ready prop, you may not need to use UV Mapper. Have a look through your template and material folders to see if an image exists that you can copy to create your transmap.

Just remember one thing when tranmapping things that have a thickness.. It won't look right from all angles. The reason is of course, the sword is hollow, 3D models aren't solid although they of course look like it. So when you lop off some of a model, you'll be able to see the "inside" - just like if you make the head invisible on a model, you can see inside the neck.
So I would definitely take it into a modeler of some kind and actually remove the bit. You may also be able to do it with a magnet. With a suitable abrupt falloff grapt I think you can make the ends close. Not sure though because I personally suck with Poser's magnets LOL

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA
Using Poser since 2002. Currently at Version 11.1 - Win 10.

well, in Wings, you can connect some of the points, which will create extra faces, and seal it up. Sometimes tricky, but it can work.

After your cuts,it's simpler to select the blue faces and replace that material with the other material listed. That is how you fill a hole in wings. Then you can add more edges to that without problems.
