Hello!
Is there any way to group Ecosystems? There doesn't seem to be a way to control individual plants or trees after painting or populating them. (which makes sense because they are "instanced")...but it would be nice.
I did convert them to objects and that worked but it takes longer to render...
I'm trying to divide background and foreground into separate passes for compositing...is there any way to make certain selected Ecosystems hidden from render???

In the place, where you convert the eco instances to objects you as well can select ("group") certain parts of the painted ecosystem and then you can do a lot of transofrmations only on those groups.
This works for painted ecosystems, I am not sure wether it as well works for the others. I even doubt it.
When you have a material ecosystem then you of course can hide the object where the ecosystem sits on for rendering. And the eco is not rendered then as well.
I think it always needs just a bit of thinking first, which type of ecosystem you use in a scene. Depending what you plan to do.

You might want to check out the tutorials on www.geekatplay.com They have one on doing foreground and background that works quite well I think.

I always group all terrains that will become ecosystems before turning them into ecosystem - so i have 1 ecosystem to care about instead each terrain having a separate ecosys. This saved me loads of time.

I think in his case, he wants to do exactly the opposite, so he can seperate them out into different layers.
