I know that V4 is becoming extremely popular, and I'm supportive of changing models to better one's artwork. I do not have V4 myself yet, as - well, to put it frankly, finances are low. I'm sure a good number of artists on this site can understand that.
Much like when V3 came out, the vendors here and elsewhere did the smart thing and gave their customers a choice between products. If you still used V2, you had the option (with some of the vendors, though not all) to buy a product specifically for V2. Now V2 is pretty much out with the times, and V3 and V4 are the main models of use.
But there is one problem with this transition from V3 to V4 that doesn't quite fit right, and isn't very fair to those of us who cannot - for whatever reason - use/buy V4.
There's no bridging between the products. Vendors are putting out products for V4, and ONLY V4, instead of molding to the desires of the customer. It makes me wonder how many people see an ad for something, say from popular vendors like Bez and Antje, sellers like that, and say "I want that." Only to discover that the product is V4 specific.
If vendors wanted more business, instead of going with what the latest trend was, they'd follow up like they did last time when V3 came "into power", if you will, and give buyers an OPTION, instead of saying, "Well, you like that, so buy this, so you can get the other thing I'm selling."
It's really all quite frustrating.
So!
My plea to vendors: PLEASE consider the customers who can't or refuse - even for nostalgia's sake - to purcahse V4. Come out with some V3 products that mirror the V4. You'd sell a lot more that way. You really would, I'm convinced of it.
My thoughts. Your business. Do with it what you will.
Peace.

Thanks for the input Summer.
I think one of the reasons for there being less new sets avaiable for V3 is that there was concern about that "department" being over-filled. With new policies implemented by the staff vendors are most likely trying to stay clear of V3 sets for that fact as well as the assumption that everyone wants V4 products since she is newest on the scene.
If more people ask for V3 sets then I'm sure someone will be inclined to produce.

I am sort of with Summer on this one. I have V4 and think she is gorgeous but I would love to see more for V3 and for Laura as well, especially Laura.

Just for the record, Renderosity isn't staying clear of V3 sets, in fact recently we've suggested to several vendors to create V3 packages.

Thanks to you all for replying. I just thought it was a little iffy, and it's been really getting on my nerves. I've seen several artists here posting images, trying to make things CLOSE to a product they saw because it was something that was only for V4.
And hey, here's a suggestion - why not make a bonus download, that includes conversions for V3? You'd be able to charge more.
Does anyone see common sense in that? You know...GIVE more...to GET more?
Just me. shrug
Anyway, thanks. I'm glad people agree with me. Maybe that'll get some ideas in peoples' heads.
