These are two interesting tutorials by a very talented artist who uses Bryce- but the information can be easily adapted to Vue. The waterfall is nice but his ocean waves are pretty great. It's hard to follow but check out the end result of his sailing ship on the high seas. It's like a classic oil painting. It would look even better in Vue...Fox-Mulder posted Thu, 12 April 2001 at 9:38 PM

Here's another set of Bryce tutorials that can be adapted to Vue. I found the Low Tide tutorial especially interesting as it shows how to use a terrain to make beach seaweed. The kind of stuff Laurie makes using Vue's terrains...Varian posted Thu, 12 April 2001 at 10:08 PM
Thanks Fox! When I first started working with Vue, there was so little in the way of Vue-specific tutorials, I read a lot of Bryce tutorials and simply "translated" the techniques. Learned a whole bunch that way! :)

I often bounce back and forth between both programs, as both offer interesting perspectives. But I have transferred all of my Bryce models out of Bryce (except for the few that are truely native to Bryce- about 10-15%) so that I can use them in Vue... Vue definately has warmer, more artistic qualities than Bryce. Bryce actually has some very nice file translation and export capabilities once you really figure them out. There are also other utility type features that Vue doesn't have, but I am hoping VUE 4 really addresses these. I wouldn't mind paying more for a "high-end" Pro-Vue 5...

BTW, thanks for the nice models, especially like the color maps, Varian. They are REALLY useful...

Hey thanks again, F-M... these do look really useful. Though the software is different, the idea is basically the same, so I don't see too much trouble with adapting. I agree on all you said about Bryce and Vue. If nothing else, I would love to see Vue 4 have Bryce's volumetric lighting.

You're welcome, Fox, and yes I'd like to see a major leap in Vue for v.5, too. I'd like to see 'em work out some more of the bugs....er surprising features...first. More SolidGrowth, of course, and I'd love to have a genuine Twist and Taper available. Volumetric lights, yes! And really, something must be done with the sun's appearance! :)

something must be done with the sun's appearance! :) You ain't just whistlin' Dixie, Bill! Now, I guess you'll just have to look that one up, LOL!

Y'know, Bill is a skinny, short black Chinese dude living upside-down on the other side of the world, and I don't look anything like him! Maybe you can ask Diana to loan you her glasses. LOL! You're just getting me back for calling Bloodsong "Mike" last week, aren't you? ;D

Oops! I stand corrected.... Can't really explain why I thought that was Bill replying...... too much work; too little sleep? OK, that's my excuse and I'm standing by it!
