I just spotted Posette here. This *is* Trippy!

Which way is Posette spinning for you?

I see her mostly going clockwise, but when I'm reading the copy below the animation, she switches to clockwise. Wild!  oO!

I think the trick is in the shadow.  Posey is basically spinning CW.
But the shadow belongs to a CCW spin, very cleverly sync'd and
angled so that the center foot of the shadow could be either way.

When you read the copy below, I'll bet your eye returns upward and
reads the shadow before the body, which gives you the CCW cue.

Looks clock-wise to me.

It's so strange. I look at it and it's clockwise. I start reading or thinking about it, and it'll switch. ockham, I think you are right about the shadow being key to the illusion. If Posette wasn't bobbing up and down, we would see where the leg's shadow is going and know if it's left or right, and if she is facing front or back. This looks so simple, but this illusion is amazing proof of which side of your brain is dominate. And when it switches, that the other side become dominate, albeit briefly. Interesting.... Did you guys take the quiz to see if you're Left Brain or Right Brain? http://www.switched.com/2007/10/15/the-trippiest-optical-illusions-on-the-net/ I am no surprise. lol -^ Right Brain 54% Left Brain 46% bB

I see counter clockwise

if I concentrate on her straight legged foot, I can then see her as going clockwise.

Way too many people take way too many things way too seriously.

Whee! I now see it counter clockwise! I stared at the shadow of the straight leg and just as I was going cross-eyed from staring, it started to spin the other direction!

I took it into Animation Shop and the image is actually spinning clockwise. Not sure why it appears the opposite direction though.
