you mean a thumbnail for the poser library ? thats just a png file 90 x 90 for poser 5 and up and an rsr file for poser 4 .
There is a setting in one of the config files that has a limit for how many thumbnails will display. You might need to increase that if many dont display.
its libraryprefs.xml and the line with previewnum , change it from 100, example shown.
<LibraryPreferences curFolder="0" previewNum="200" >
You can edit the prefs file in wordpad.
in poser 7 the prefs file was moved to documents and settings folder . in earlier versions its in ...runtimeprefs

Or ... you can just ...
**
Load the prop into the Poser Studio ...
Delete the prop from the Library -** (optional see step #4 below)**
Adjust the view in the Document Display ...(hint - make the window square)
Save the prop back to the Library
(Note - use a different name if you did not delete the original prop in Step #2 above)**
... and ... Walla .......... .. Poser creates a brandy new thumb fer ya.
Cool, no?

Hey! Great idea to have the Poser libray thumb the leading image in the folder of elements stored for archives. Thanks!

DG,
I'm supposed to load the prop, go to WINDOWS=====>DOCUMENT WINDOW SIZE...
and make the size a square demension right? I'm trying to make 90 X 90 and the window resizes itself. Seems you cannot go under 120. And also when I make my document window a smaller size, the prop is totally out of sight.

Do not try to make the Document window 90x90 because you can't ... and ... don't need to anyway.
The Document window can be any size you want ... e.g. 120x120, 200x200, 256x256, 500x500, 523x523 or anything else ... and Poser will resize it to make a 90x90 thumbnail.
If the window is not square, Poser may clip the thumbnail image that gets shown in the Library.
Try it, you'll like it ... try different sizes and see what happens.

How can I put a thumbnail on the main folders for the runtime, For example I have Luna for Aiko and instead of the plain folder in the pose library I can have a thumbnail instead? In my opinion the folder icon is a waste of space , if you can't use a thumbnail why didn't they just use the text? Any help with this would be appreciated.

m826s,
If you're on Poser 6 you can do this with the main libraries - i.e. you can have a graphic thumbnail for the Figures, Pose, Expressions, etc libraries, but not for folders within the libraries.
You can't do it in Poser 7 at all.

All I do is this:
Your image will render at 91 x 91 pixels
Save it out as a .png to the same folder that contains the .cr2, .pp2, .pz2 etc file that you want a thumbnail for. Save it as the same name as the .cr2, .pp2, pz2 etc file. Voila! Thumbnail :)
Don't forget to change the size of your render dimensions when you want to render a regular scene :)
