I've been a member here since Rendo began and now I'm being treated like I just joined today. I had to 'resend' a validation email that I never got in the first place, and never asked for, and didn't need, because my membership is old, to activate my 'new' account.

Did you recently change your email address?

I hope it isn't a scam by an outsider to get your email address and verify it.

No Jen I haven't. Very weird huh? :)
BarCode, thanks ;P
Annie, that was my first thought as well. But the verification email went to the right email addy (which is obviously mine :) )so I don't know how that would have worked.
JenX posted Fri, 09 November 2007 at 5:44 PM
It is weird...I'm trying to think...have you changed your password? sometimes that'll send a verification email, as well. Check your profile, make sure it matches you. Stranger things have happened..... I'll alert the admin to this thread, still ;)

No, it wasn't a scam... I got the same deal here, and I typed in the URL to get here. Said I wasn't a verified member or somesuch (the screencap Xena showed covers it).
I then asked it to send a verification email... it had my old daz3d.com addy from 2005 listed as my official email address (in spite of having changed it back to my Comcast addy years ago).
Changed the addy, sent verification via the link, and I'm in. My account purchases (from 2002 - ~2005 or so) are still there and intact.
I'm thinking a query (or a chunk of data files) had gone bad somewhere.
On the plus side, it gave me a 15% coupon for the RMP (heh... okay...)
/P
Xena posted Fri, 09 November 2007 at 6:10 PM
Yeah everything is still intact AFAIK
Jen, I haven't changed any details for quite some time. Must have just been a glitch in the matrix :)

Hi,
The email address that is currently in your profile is not valid if you get that message. We need
you to click the link on the error message you get when trying to log in
that says "RESEND". Put in your current valid email address and password
then hit the submit button.
Once this is done you will receive a validation email at the email address
you submitted. This email will have a verification link you need to click on
and once this is done you will be good to go:)
These are from the bounce back list of the newsletter due to the current email address we have listed in your profile being invalid.
Thanks
Stacey

Err, I changed my email addy to my current one back in ~2005 (or so).
I would say it's spamassassin throwing you the bounces, but I'd have to check @ the home SMTP relay before I could say for certain.
/P

We require a valid, acessible email address to be a member of the site. You should probably whitelist
'admin@renderosity.com' with your mail provider to make sure we can reach you.
Thanks
Silke posted Fri, 09 November 2007 at 8:05 PM
Yeah, my email addy hasn't changed in uh... seven years or so. I just had a verify thingy as well.

I've been getting the Rendo newsletter no problem, so that's not it.
StaceyG posted Fri, 09 November 2007 at 8:26 PM
That is the only way an account was set to revalidate, directly from the bounced email.
StaceyG posted Fri, 09 November 2007 at 8:50 PM
Can I ask that anyone who is in this thread that had to revalidate but had the correct current valid email address show when they clicked the "RESEND" link please email me your username and the email provider so I can turn this over to the programmers to see if they need to tweak some of this process, I would appreciate it.
Just to be clear, when you clicked that RESEND link the email address that we had on file for you would have been in that "email" field and if it was the current correct one and you didn't have to alter that field but instead just had to enter your password and you got the email verficiation just fine to that same email address, email me (stacey@bondware.com ) with the information I asked for above.
Thanks

Mine showed the old address, in spite of getting the newsletter (I checked - no bounces in the logs, and they were all sitting in the folder where my filter shoveled them off to).
No biggie - just figured that something was up.
FWIW, the Username is over there to the left, and the email ISP is Comcast (or during lunch, I pop in to the website from an intel.com IP addy).
/P
StaceyG posted Fri, 09 November 2007 at 9:58 PM
Okay thanks Pengy. I'll pass this on to the programmers to see if some tweaking needs to be done to the process for true validation of email addresses:)

I got the same nonsense when I tried to log in just now. My email address has NOT changed........pffttttttt.
Silke posted Sat, 10 November 2007 at 6:16 AM
Yes, same email.
BTW - I run Spamassassin and BoxTrapper on my server (I've had a lot of trouble with spam lately), but Rendo is whitelisted.
BTW if you want to test some stuff against spamassassin and boxtrapper, feel free to give me a holler, I run my own mail servers and can do some test accounts if you want.

Same thing here. Of course I haven't used the E-Mail listed in like 5 years. :-p
Still, real annoying.
If I didn't have all my purchases under this account, I just would have started another.

I also got this. I had used the e-mail address since 2004. I found that Bondware (according to the Return Notification) had blocked/banned my e-mail/Domain, even though I had received the most recent Newsletter as normal. Runtime DNA, which is Bondware too, I believe, was unaffected. I think the Site Admin need to look into this. Debbie got me access by manually changing my e-mail to a work e-mail, but I am not suppose to use that for personal use.
This only became an issue late last week or over the weekend.
I am afraid to change it back to the correct address. I show the Renderosity Domain as allowed in all my e-mail and I manage the Domain used.

Stacy,
I e-mailed you... so far it had not come back saying it was blocked.
