Which is a better tool to use for a talking character? Mimic or talk designer?

Mimic is pricey and not worth it in my opinion.
If you have Talk Designer, I'd stick with that.

I'm a big fan of Mimic, but it is tricky to set up a character and it works outside of Poser (in other words, it isn't a seemless integration).

Currently Talk Designer supports way more characters if you buy the add on pack at Content Paradise.

Still, I really like the layout of Mimic once you get going with it.  Just, the getting going is not intuitive in many cases, unfortunately.

Mimic to me, is pretty limited. I tried the demo and didn't think it was worth
paying that kind of money for it. They don't update it at all by the looks of it.
The content it comes with is old and outdated.

People now have V4 not even sure it works with the newer figures.

Mimic Pro does not support newer figures. Not even Victoria 4, as out of the box, can be used in Mimic Pro. You have to create some kind of file if you want Victoria 4 "talks" using Mimic...
