I know the .vob extension is for Vue. I have the free Vue 6 Infinite PLE
I found a freebie that I would like to use and it has a .vob extension and I want to convert it to .obj so I can use it in Poser.
The readme for the file says:
[quote]To Install:
Where in the Vue folder do I find the folder that has the objects in it?
in the top level of the Vue folder I have the following: Application, Documentation, Environment, Help, Modules, and Python. I've looked in each of those and don't see any "object" folders.

heart whatever they might have to
say." - Ghandi

Hi Acadia.
Drop the .VOB anywhere - any folder anywhere.
Start V6I PLE. Go to File Menu->Load Object. You should get the "Top level" dialogue. At the bottom of that dialogue there's a browse option (next to the waste bin - hover over the icons there). Click the browse option and you should be able to browse to wherever you saved the .vob and load it.
However, I rather think that you won't be able to save it out as eg. a .obj file (tho I hope I'm wrong). Many .VOB files are set up so that they cannot be re-exported.
However, just in case I'm wrong, to try to do so select the object, and go to File Menu->Export Object. Select .obj format.
Hope that works (I have V5I, not V6I, but I'd be surprised if these bits have been changed)
Cheers,
Diolma

Thanks :) I'll give that a try tomorrow. Right now my bed and book are calling out to me.

I can't seem to load the .vob object file. I get some message saying that Vue 6 can't read files for Vue d'esprite or earlier and to use the conversion tool to convert the file.

Quote - Acadia what do you use Vue for? What are the pros?
I have no idea! LOL I saw someone talking about the free version of Vue so I decided to download it and try it out. Apparently renders are supposed to be much better or something. TBH I even though I installed it, haven't bothered with it. I'm still trying to figure out Poser and with me it's one program at a time because I'm easily overwhelmed when I try to learn too many things at the same time.

Yeah I know StormChaser loves Vue for rendering but didn't know if the free version would come equipped with all the things needed.

Few more pros for Vue
Volumetrics - you can see 'em in the preview and they render much faster than Poser.
GI and GR without having to hack secret settings (and which work )
Placement of things that aren't in Ecosystems is actually as precise as Poser - you can adjust Z Y and Z independently if you need to.
Density maps for Ecosystem layout and ecosystem painting in Infinite, surprisingly useful
and yeah - almost all my renders are done in Vue these days - 900x1500 in 2 or 3 mins with volumetrics (but not with GI obviously)

you'd have to check the website but so far as I know ecosystem painting is available in the PLE. The rest of it certainly should be

As someone else mentioned, the PLE has a restriction that stops it from loading files from non-PLE versions.
