I have been using Poser since maybe '98 or '99 but never used pre-set figure poses untill the last few months. I am finding that pretty frequently my figures end up with broken fingers when I apply a pose. Today for instance I was using a nice Male G2 Pose set with James G2 and the fingers kept breaking. See the left hand above. I tried several "zero fingers" poses but they did not work. I ended up having to use an "unhide x,y,z translation" script and try to reset the fingers. Is there a way to make a good unversal or figure-by-figure fix? Am I doing something wrong to cause this to begin with?

How about individual IK's for the fingers?

How do I do that? I have never heard of that idea.

Is this problem I have common? I feel I must be doing something wrong.

Is it possible to zero the hand?  What's shown in the photo often happens when poses made for one figure are applied to another figure.

I would make a hand pose for the figure used and apply it after the pose that causes the break. You may also be able to use limits on to control the breaking.

Individual IK's for the fingers can be set up in the hierachy palette.  example:  lIndex1 would be the start and lIndex3 would be the goal.

I was using the default install of James G2 and having those problems. I re-installed and problem gone! What kind of subtle curruption of the .cr2 I wonder. I had moved the stuff a number of times over I guess but never saved over it... I wonder if some tiny tiny thing happened to the .cr2 at some point in decompressing it or something! Meanwhile the re-install of the JamesG2 Face Room Data caused my Poser to crash on start-up! Luckly I had a back up of the old "Head" folder!

Yes... the obvious answer I guess is to save a hand file for each figure from the default pose. Forgot all about hand .hd2 poses... I'll have to see if that works. The fixes I had were .pz2 so I figured it had to be done that way.

*" What's shown in the photo often happens when poses made for one figure are applied to another figure."

"I would make a hand pose for the figure used and apply it after the pose that causes the break.."*

Use a premade or save a hand pose and apply it after the body pose. This has been a poser problem from the begining. Thats why they made P7 with universal pose. But I can imagine it can still be a problem on occasion.
