HELLO.
Are there certain BROWSERS that work BETTER with this wonderful site than other browsers?
In function, speeds and compatability?
THANKS, in advance, for any and all help. MUCH appreciated.

The browser shouldn't make any difference on how this site "works" . I think its more of a personal preference on what browser a person is comfortable with. I use IE and Firefox and I personally prefer IE but this site works fine for me in Firefox as well and its just a personal preference on what I feel more comfortable using.
I think you have to make that choice for yourself to see what browser you prefer.

StaceyG: HELLO and THANKS for your comments. MUCH appreciated.
I prefer Netscape 8.1.2 browser but it seems things do not work as well as other browsers?
As in when I hit the 'back' arrow icon, it will not take me to the previous page. I have to go over and hit 'return to top of fourm' icon to get back to top of thread and then have to migrate step by step to the next thread, etc.
Do your technicians inform you that Netscape has more problems or incompatabilities with this wonderful site than other browsers? It seems so to me, just from my use.
THANKS, again. MUCH appreciated.
My best,
TallPockets.

I'm not familiar with Netscape at all so I'm not sure how it works. I know that statistics/reports we have show that Firefox and IE are the most used browsers by Renderosity members. Netscape is way down the list and I'm not really sure why that is but then again I am stuck on IE and Firefox as a habit.
You can email admin@renderosity for more information from the programmers on Netscape in relation to Renderosity.

TallPockets,
Ever since the original Netscape creators/owners sold out..the browser has had many problems. I know that when I do web pages and have to use scripts, etc. I always have to do a "fix" to accomodate Netscape...and warned that Netscape will not recognize many things I may want to do on a web page.
It's a shame too because Netscape used to be the best browser out there..but that was back in the 90s before it changed hands.

That was interesting history Annie as I said above, I know nothing about Netscape and was wondering why its not used by very many Renderosity members and I guess that explains some.
Thanks
AnnieD posted Tue, 27 November 2007 at 7:12 PM
It used to be called Netscape Communicator..and it was the best browser out there in the 90s..then Microsoft started making IE better and the Netscape guys sold out to AOL and the rest is history as they say...
There was a time when I would not use anything else..it had everything including a WYSIWYG web page builder in it. I built lots of web pages with it.
During the 90s there was a thing on the net that everyone (us oldtimers) called the "browser wars". We used to put little animations on our pages of Netscape shooting lightning bolts at IE..lol
When it became apparent to me that the new owners were loading it up with crap and not really making the code better..I finally went to IE and I've got to say that at least Gates did put the technology into his browser that was necessary to stay competitive.
Half the ppl now who knock IE still remember the Netcape Communicator. It was also called the Netscape Navigator..I don't know what they call it now.

@Tallpockets Netscape 9.0.0.4 works fine with this site and many others I visit - it's basically built on the Firefox engine so can use nearly all FF add-ons. Opera would be my other choice.

INDODA, ANNIED, AND STACEYG:
HELLO to ALL and THANKS MUCH for all the info!!
I also was experiencing similar issues/problems at other similar sites. I contacted their HELP DESK and was contacted back by a wonderful lady who told me of the above Netscape 9.0.0.4 version browser.
I HAD been using Netscape 8.1.3 browser, which was their latest, most current browser all this time.
In the other site, it got so bad that I could not even view others full galleries and then even couldn't view MY own. LOL.
After downloading and installing Netscape 9.0.04, all those problems/issues are RESOLVED!
AMEN, I say! -- WINK.
AnnieD: Yes, you were right on accurate about the Netscape history! It IS a shame, indeed, what they've done to it. SIGH.
I've always pulled for the UNDERDOG in life, so to speak. I and many I know, used Netscape as a PROTEST against the MONOPOLY of Billy Gates and Microsoft. GRIN.
STACEYG: THANKS, again, for allowing me to post this thread. MUCH appreciated. The only thing I will say further was what I also said to the other lady at the other site: Why didn't someone from the TECHNICAL end of EITHER site staff inform those like STACEYG and other HELP folks who actually TALK to idiots like TallPockets on such issues, so that their members could get UPDATE info??? SIGH.
That is why I asked earlier above, if ANY browsers, particularly Netscape, was more incompatible with this and other sites. To DUMB old me, that should be a quick answer given by tech folks that could be easily passed along to members at any/all sites. Just MY thoughts. Consider the source. GRIN. (And, it would make GRUMPY T.P. alot less grumpy and stay OUT of the forums!!). WINK.
I don't blame the MESSENGER. They do their job with what they're told by tech staff folks.
I HOPE that OTHERS reading this thread/post will see if THEIR browser MAY be experiencing similar issues, etc.
My best ....
Old, grumpy TallPockets over and out .... WINK.

BTW: Netscape 9.0.0.4 browser is a STAND ALONE browser upgrade. It is it's own entity. It's not an automatic transition that deletes your previous browser version. IT, the OLDER version, STILL remains on your hard drive/p.c. IF you want to use EITHER. You can always keep BOTH or delete one of the two as desired. NICE.

TallPockets..I'm really glad that you have solved your browser problems..nothing is worse than having to fight to see and do everything you want or need to do..
And..please don't stay out of the forums.. :D you don't have to have problems to come to a forum and say something.
Have a wonderful week..
Annie

ANNIED: HELLO & THANKS for your comments. MUCH appreciated. I have been known to give some here more 'gray hairs'. WINK.
I hope that I only ask honest questions about honest problems that I or others experience here. Yes, you are correct above, when you state how frustrating it is when something doesn't work. MANY folks have told TallPockets that HE doesn't WORK well, often, also. GRIN.
Even more, in this particular instance than my situation, I hope that anyone else who uses Netscape as their browser either may read this information or someone who has read it will pass it along to OTHERS in similar circumstances.
My best to you and yours, KIND soul ....
HAPPY TallPockets. WINK.

Quote - Netcape Communicator. It was also called the Netscape Navigator..I don't know what they call it now.
I remember that. When I got my first computer back in March of 2000 I was using Netscape as my browser and absolutely loved it. I switched to IE a couple years later and then a couple years after that to Mozilla-Firefox because of all the adware problems associated with IE.

ALL: This Netscape 9.0.04 version is once again called NAVIGATOR. I started out five years ago on my first p.c. Still using the same one, btw. HP DESKTOP. My first browser was Netscape 4.70.

@TallPockets
Glad you found Navigator to work for you - you can add Firefox addins I use a couple to handle cookies and scripts (CookieSafe & NoScript) plus Secure Login to handle logging in ;)
I also used Netscape Navigator back in the good old days and went to Opera for several years and now am back to NN 9.0.0.4

I use an older version of Mozilla, which, for me, is pretty much identical to Netscape before AOL ruined it.

Meh - I use mostly Safari and Firefox (I don't use Windows primarily, so...) works about the same on either ('cept I can use AdBlock w/ Firefox to keep the site work-safe. :) ).
