....that a lot of trees in Vue have the wrong hooking point info saved?A bug that E-on are going to fix in the next patch....but till then, or if you are still using V5 I have a little explaination on my website on how to fix it
Just follow the link and it's in the Tutorials area in the menu.

Yep I have found that to have happened in almost all of my trees. Another problem that bothers me is when I Save As the tree, make or do not make modifications, the leaves are always the wrong dimensions compared to the original plant. It does make for some interesting tree effects.

If you make modifications to the plant you can also change the size of the leaves, width and length independently. If you make the trunk or branches smaller, then usually you would have to make the leaves smaller also.
Or is it that this happens without chaning the size of the trunk? I've not noticed that.....

I understand what you mean by changing the trunk and then the leaves may change.
No modifications have to be made, and often the leaves just change to some arbitrary size. You can readjust them later and try a resave once again, sometimes it works and other times it does not. It is very strange. I have only changed about a half dozen or so tree types. I probably have broken code. I added DeepAccess module last night with the sale going on so will see if that helps stop some of the strange changes to the materials I have been having.
When Vue 7 comes out I will switch over to Infinite and wipe the drive and do a fresh install. Esprit and Pro are okay but you cannot export Boolean models or bake anything to reduce polys.
I am still learning the software so am not too worried about the minor glitches at the moment.

keenart, maybe there is some embedded randomness in the leaves? Or in the randomness parameter for the leaf component?

Wow - didn't know that. Thanks a lot. Next time I use a tree, I'll try to fix it.

Another bizarre plant issue - in particular with the Scots Pine. In doing testing for someone when I corrected the hook point it flipped the needles upside down. Something else to watch for. I have also noticed the strange resizing of the leaves, sometimes they come out enormous even though the map is the same size as previous ones.

That is an interesting point, a randomness parameter, something I had not thought about and makes sense. I was wondering if maybe it was related to the misplaced hook or the disappearing materialstextures.
I do not want to get too far away from the thread. Now if I could just get the material problem solved; the changing and disappearing materials. This is going to be difficult to explain! When you select a new material or texture, alter, and then apply, you have little problem. But, if you change the current material to another material or texture, apply those changes, the material or texture reverts back to the original with the new changes applied. So, if you try to get the new material or texture back, you loose all of the applied settings and have to start all over again. Really strange stuff, I hear Twilight Zone tunes going off in my head each time this happens.
So, I was not sure whether this was related to the plant problem or not. Currently, I check everything before I save each time to see what if anything has or has not changed according to my wishes.
