@ Fran: Here is a link to the set of HDRI probe files. The Zip is fairly large 100mg, but it's a really nice set. These were created by Keith Brun. He also has the usage terms file in the Zip.

I used my Avatar (large scale) image to create an HDRI probe file. I used this particular file to understand the layout that would be effecting the enviroment. Since I wanted to understand the reflective nature of the Probe I used a highly reflective map on the sphere and found out I had to reverse the image in Photoshop to have the reflection read left to right. (mirrors, hmm).
