Maybe it is the way you are saving it... often the "optimise" function or relative thereof strips the exif data because it takes up space which isnt "visible" for web publication. In photoshop it is a simple case of using "Save as..." and selecting Jpeg instead of "Save for Web"...
otherwise try this:

or try out things linked from this page:

Perhaps an upgrade? Don't know about PSP 7 but my version 9 is perfectly capable of saving exif.
As far as I know, you can add some description to the file manually but that is limited to the author's name and some comment. This can be done in the system by editing file properties. I've no idea if this would be saved on the Web, though. Never tried it.
Oh, I never use the "optimise" feature, but always set the jpg-compression manualy. I think it's just not in the program. Paintshop does pretty much everything I need - and has done so for me long before I picked up photography again - but I guess EXIF data may be one of the areas where it becomes obvious that it can't be completely compared to something like Photoshop. But the EXIF writer looks promising. Might be just the compromise I need between my old software and my new requirements. Have to give that one a try. Thanks. :) But if anyone else has a suggestion, just keep it coming. So far I am not married to any option yet, and I am still quite curious if anyone has ever tried to hack into a jpeg file.
I will when I start taking photos again, I just never thought about it before. Mine was lost somewhere along the way from the camera to the computer but I've found the way to save it through my Olympus software now.
As to PSP - I'm afraid that the use of any compression will result in loosing this data. The only way a PSP saves exif is if you use plain and simple "Save As..." with no compression at all.

You've sparked my curiosity now. I know PSP9 and beyond saves EXIF info. I'll have to reload PSP7 just for kicks. One thing that will rid the photo of EXIF is severe cropping.
You might want to consider upgrading your PSP7. PSP X2 is only $54.99 for the upgrade version from Corel. I find the Oly software to be miserable. Also, Lexar is offering PSP X for free if you buy their 4 or 8-gig standard or Pro CF card...
My curiosity was sparked as well. I use CS1 and check the File Info panel. As near as I can tell, you can add some data to the EXIF information (including copyright info!) but not change what is already there. Under "Advanced" you can replace or append parts of the EXIF data, but I am not sure how to do that.

I experimented a bit, and apparently even a simple "save as" in PSP7 will rid the file of the EXIF data. An upgrade seems the way to go, unless the EXIF Writer mentioned above will do the trick. I'll look into it one of these days, but probably not before the weekend.
Found something that works for me (even if I may upgrade my PSP eventually). :-) I did a little reading about what all this Exif stuff is actually about, and how it really works, and came across a program called Exifer (http://www.friedemann-schmidt.com/software/exifer/). What it can do is export the data from the original image and then import it back into a modified version. First experiments look promising, as I guess if the data shows in my picasa gallery (which it does) it will show in the rosity gallery as well. :-) Many thanks for all replies. You guys and gals are great. :-D

Okay, here I was, thinking about software that would allow me to do all the postwork I now do with Paintshop, but would still allow me to save the EXIF data in a jpeg (which my PSP 7.02 just doesn't do). But then I started wondering if there wasn't a way to get into the jpeg file data and add the EXIF information "by hand", so to speak. Does anyone here have an idea if this is even possible, and if so, how it could be done? Many thanks in advance for all comments. :-) (And before anyone suggests some piece of software to use instead of PSP - yes, I know there may be better programs for what I do, but I have used this prog for years and I am a creature of habit.
