Hi, I know this sounds like the usual Pirate me a copy type post, but it is not.
I thought there was a place where I could get a copy of Poser 5 (which I'm assuming works with XP), but a cursory search has led me nowhere.
Does anyone know if there is a place where I can get this software for free. I'm broke at the moment, and my copy of Poser 2 (which I own, of course) will not work with XP.
Thanks. Feeling sheepish about even asking, but I have a very critical project that I need to get some posed hands for, and I lack sufficient time to model them myself.
Thanks.
John

Don't know of anywhere online you can get a free copy, you sometimes get old versions on magazine cove discs.
Or you might try Daz Studio, it's Free and uses the same content as Poser

Content Paradise had it for free to members of the club but not sure if it still is.
Just checked and it is nowhere on their site so it must have been a limited time thing. Sorry

DAZ Studio is your best bet. Free, runs on XP, and uses Poser Runtimes, etc.

Cool. Will it pose hands? I'll check it out ...
I have in on one system, but I've never used it.

DAZ/Studio will do everything Poser does as far as figures are concerned.

there's a couple of fiddly bits that Daz won't do, to find out which, just go to the Poser forum and say how much you like Daz Studio...;) aside from that, it interfaces just fine with Bryce 5.5, so go fer it.

Very cynical but oh so true.

Before using Daz Studio or Poser you have to sign an agreement that you will not attempt to display any talent, or originality. A check of the galleries will show almost nobody breaks this agreement.

Hey that's not really quite fair.My son has done some quite original studio renders, only one posted here though.

Note I said "ALMOST NOBODY"
I am always glad when somebody puts the old grey matter into gear before playing with Poser. It is a rare phenominon.
Originality is the biggerst loser where Poser is concerned, with almost every picture falling with half a dozen themes. When you have the potential to create the ENTIRE range of human endeavor, real or not, it shows a distinct lack of original thinking. And as for talent, check out how many artists actually made ((ONE)) prop, hair, clothing item, texture, or background plate in their image. Any body can buy and pose.

well i can tell you without a word of a lie..i have poser 5(free from CP) i have poser 6, won from a contest in a mag, and poster 7 which i had purchased in perth from a store that had it in their bargin bin(everything for $25-$50AUD)..not my fault they stuffed up, i also have Daz Studio and after using D|S and poser i find D|S is more enjoyable to use because there are things the program can't do wich poser can making D|S a challange to work with but hey thats the best thing about it, you don't want everything easy now do you...if so then stay with bryce...
