Greetings to all,

I am looking over all (reviewing) of my old equipment -- in this case,
a Metz Mecablitz 202 flash. 

The good points ... it's a powerful flash (e.g. ASA 100, 50 ft would use f/4);
the flash tube tilts for bounce flash; the flash head detaches from the electronics
and battery pack; the duration/power of the flash is automatic: you set ASA
and distance to the subject on the flash; a guide indicates the f/ stop; and
a sensor on the flash head reads the amount of light coming back to the
camera and quenches the light. 

The bad points ... the flash unit dates from the early 1970's; it is somewhat
heavy/bulky; there is no hot shoe connection; but most important, the
Ni-Cad battery pack is dead (will not hold a charge) -- and is (of course) no
longer manufactured. 

The question is what to do? 

Metz suggests using the battery pack for a mecablitz 60 -- but I would also
need a new separate recharge unit. 

OTOH, I could have new Ni-Cad cells installed in the battery pack housing
... but one supplier rasied the question as to the correct type (rating) of the
cells that would be installed. 

IOW, is it worth fixing? 

Is it powerful enough to still have utility? 

Should I try to sell it to someone who has a mecablitz 60?  The battery for
that flash would work in my old unit. 

Questions, questions ... your opinions, please.
