For several years I have had a PC which ran Windows 98 second version. It ran my Poser 4.0.3 correctly. But a week ago my PC suffered a derangement in its systems and I had to replace it. And my local computer shop (PC World in Old Trafford in Manchester UK) had recently stopped selliung Windows XL PC's, so I had to but a PC that ran Windows Vista. And I found that under Windows Vista:
Poser 4 off the CD-ROM exits with a "C exception" when it tries to load a character.
With the Poser 403 upgrade, when I loaded a character, the operation completed, but the posing view window remained blank, and when I tried to render, Poser jammed.
Which of the various versions of Poser will run properly under Windows Vista?
I have a Poser 5 which misbehaved on my old PC: will it run under Windows Vista?
If Poser 7 will run under Windows Vista, where in Britain can I buy Poser 7? I would prefer to receive it CD-ROM's and the manuals on paper books, not to have to download and print out everything.
Ditto Poser 5 and 6 .

I'm using P7 on Vista, but initially there were problems, which have been resolved by updating all my drivers, and the vista updates themselves. I've also had P5 installed for a short time and had no problems with it. But first recommmendation would to be to update all your drivers, especially for video. Also, when doing your poser install, have it Run As Administrator to install.

I have loaded my Poser 5, but when I try to start it, I merely get a message box saying "User w privileges insufficient to start a low-level driver". But I am the administrator of my PC - Windoes Vista has a system of multiple users like a mainframe.

I've divorced from Vista after a short while and I live happily with XP, I couldn't use Poser 7 decently.

Get the latest update for Poser 4. The original version from the CD may not be updated to the version that could work with computers with more than 1 GB of memory.
